The reason is that it is considered apostasy to pursue studies (theology, law, science) outside of the ideas in the Koran because it is “complete and perfect work”.Refusing to pursue scientific inquiry because it might conflict with ancient religious texts is, IMHO, a really bad idea.

Yeah, that’s why the Judeo-Christian cultures were/are able to pursue scientific enquiry, and still do, ethically.
Old texts aside, there are certain proscriptions that all humans know - like live vivisection, experimentation on humans, etc. We’ve done these things in history, but we all know they’re wrong.

Actually, the placement of the prime meridian is very convenient, since it places the anti-prime meridian (Lng 180) mainly over water where it will inconvenience very few people.
