BEIJING, April 19 /CNW/ -- The sleek Buick Invicta show car revealed here in conjunction with Auto China 2008 is Buick's strongest statement yet of its deliberately international plans. The four-door midsize sedan with a coupe-like roofline presents bold direction for Buick's new generation of vehicles in the world's two biggest automotive markets -- the United States and China.

If it’s like some of the machine tools made in China, it’s crap.

The Chinese seem to be getting good at some things faster than others. Their optics are quite good and getting better, and very inexpensive. Their farming is straight out of Alley Oop. No possible way should we be buying any food products from them.

Well, Buick is a very prestigious nameplate in China. It would make sense for GM to make some Buicks in China even if it were only for Chinese consumption.

Yes, those that are militarily useful.

I hope the new Buick Invicta goes over big time in China. We need to anything we can to lower the trade deficit.

Buick sells more cars in China than it does in the rest of Asia put together. Maybe there’s hope for GM yet. I’m hoping Bob Lutz finally finally ends GM’s record of lackluster design and plasticky interiors.

Good thing it wasn't an Erectra, Le Sabre would've been completely unpronounceable.

“Their farming is straight out of Alley Oop.”

Alley Oop was a hunter/gatherer. Here’s how you tell the difference between a hunter/gatherer and a Chinese farmer: Hunter/gatherer craps in the woods and then goes far away from the stench and the flies to gather berries and eat insects. Chinesee farmer craps in a bucket, carries bucket to field, tills feces into soil for fertilizer and then carries harvest back in the same bucket.

I don't know who's designing GM cars these days, from the looks of that monster at the top, it looks like it came out of Dr. Caligari’s school of cabinet design.

Out of the night... that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

That's the Buick Invicta, you right winged idiot... Not William Ernest Henley's "Invictus" poem!

Well, then... it don't have a Chinaman's chance!
