MOGADISHU, Somalia - Islamic insurgents clashed with Ethiopian troops in Somalia's capital today in battles that killed 12 people and wounded 10 others.
Witnesses say jubilant supporters of the insurgents dragged the bodies of four dead Ethiopian soldiers through the streets Mogadishu.
Eight civilians were also killed in the fighting.

That city should be leveled. It worked with the Germans in WWII and they had an actual military.
Terrorist attack against Ethiopian troops results in a grusome display, where terrorists paraded the bodies of the dead through the streets. In addition, the craven terrorist attack took the lives of 8 innocent civilians.
Least that’s how I’d write it. If the ‘insurgents’ were Christian, that’s how the AP would write it too.

Carpet-bombing Mogadishu is way, way past due. There is nothing redeeming about the place, and no good reason not to do it. It would be no loss to anybody.

I will be interesting to gauge the Ethiopean response vs our previous response. So far the Ethiopeans seem less concerned with world opinion.

For what its worth the Serbs tried that with the Muslim militants in Srbrenica who had repeatedly attacked Serbian civilians in the surrounding towns. We weren’t too happy with the Serbs for doing the same thing that you suggest even though they spared the women and children.
We were wrong. We didn’t undestand that at the time, but now we do.
