Yep. Good bullet placement.

It has to do with a limited supply of grass in areas that get less than 15 inches of moisture a year. You do the math on how much twenty dogs eat and then do not move to another pasture so the first has a chance to regenerate. These prairiecites will keep the vegetation chewed down to the dirt. That does not leave much for a ranchers cattle or whatever he raises for his families livelihood.

Oh great, another government agency wanting to sell permits so a landowner can keep doing what he has been doing for generations and will continue to do long after any regime changes.

The Smithsonian is hardly an unbiased source.

Ummm - Funny you might mention that. I'm an ecologist from (of all places) Eastern Washington (note the capital “E”). At it appears to be such a serious problem that neither the Washington Cattlemen’s Association, the regional FSA office, or Washington State University Cooperative Extension Service mention it. Give it up.

Of course. We all know the real aim of the editors of Smithsonian Magazine is to subvert “The American Way”.

That thing hasn't even been properly heated yet and the styrafoam is still clean...;^)

I just keep my 46 B (b) Mossberg .22 oiled up and its $25 dollar scope clean...

I see the date stamp on the pic and trust you've treated yourself well since?

“I don’t believe that bubonic plague nonsense one bit.”

That’s strange, Colorado just did a study and they said that 25% of the verminous little critters had the plague. I don’t know why they would lie, they love Prairie Dogs here in Boulder county.

"So do mice and rats...but you don’t see us wiping out the native mice and rat species of the North American plains for a rare disease".

We certainly should - and I'm doing my part..

In our neighborhood of million dollar homes -- which means modest ranch homes in California - several of us keep rat bait distributed year around.

Long ago lost count of the dead rats found on my property when the number went over a 100, and this doesn't count the rats who die on my neighbors properties.

I'm not talking mice -- I'm talking RATS.
Most dead rats measure around 12" from nose to end of tail.
We've killed Roof Rats and Norway Rats - mostly Roof Rats.
For those interested - the most effective bait I've tried is Ropax Bars, purchased in bulk over the Internet.

Unfortunately -- many American households no longer do ANYTHING to control the mouse/rat population or take normal measures to deny them "sustenance or "sanctuary" and this further contributes to the explosion in rodent population.

That is clearly not in the best interests of public health or safety..

There are LOTS of living entities whose deaths would be in the best interests of society -- think rats, flies, murderous psychopaths and militant Islamic lunatics. To name only a few..

No, I say we don’t become VEGANs....I say we EAT Vegans......after all, in their own philosophy, humans (especially non producing VEGANs), are a danger to this planet....

Look, you called myself and every other person of similar mind “dipshits” so don't ask me to favor you with my personal presence to escort you out into the deep blue.

Discourse is one thing but name calling like that to “supposed” fellow conservatives is uncalled for thus my calling you on it. So go *iss up your rope, it will be easier.

Leave the prairie dogs alone, time to cull radical anti-hunting/animal rights groups. They seem to be breeding like, well like prairie dogs.
Then you can return to the prairie dogs,
