BIRMINGHAM | Former Gov. Don Siegelman said Thursday that he wants former White House adviser Karl Rove to testify before Congress, whether 'he lies under oath, tells the truth or pleads the Fifth.'
Siegelman was freed on bond March 28 after serving nine months in federal prison for bribery and obstruction of justice. He said that while his primary concern is winning his appeal, there are bigger issues involved in his prosecution by the U.S. District Attorney's Office in Montgomery...
The case against Siegelman centered around a contribution by Richard Scrushy, the founder of HealthSouth, to an organization Siegelman had set up to lobby for a state lottery, and the sale of a motorcycle to aid Nick Bailey, one of the key government witnesses in the case against the former governor.

At what point does this guys right to defend himself end for the convenience of former government officials?
Ya and the people in hell want ice water you jerk.
whether 'he lies under oath, tells the truth or pleads the Fifth.'
Just ask Don Siegelman where his associate is...the guy who bribed him. While Don walks freely....the guy who gave the bribe....is still behind bars and fuming that Don gets special treatment. Don doesn’t mention this in interviews or with the public. If I were Rove...I’d smile and say “no problem” in meeting with congress....but you’d like to have the other guy still in jail given a free trip up to DC to ask why congress can’t give him a bond-deal out of jail.
The remarkable part of this story...is that Don’s sentence and case is still legit. No one has tossed the case out...and the state AG can’t really explain how Don qualifies for temporary stay on his sentence. Even if Karl Rove admitted that he approved the CEO giving Don money...Don Siegelman still took the bribe and gave out a state position to the guy who paid the bribe.
Personally....I’d like for Bush to pardon the bribe guy and then have Bush say alot of nice things about Siegelman but he (Bush) could not pardon Don because Don’s currently out on Bond.
And, usually, Siegelman is guilty.
Of whatever he's been accused of doing...
I am, not followoing the case that well. I just don’t like government officials getting a pass on interrogations or testifying when someone else is being accused; especially if they are out of office.
Who are you talking about? Rove?
Yeah...and I want (crook) Seigelman to explain if he still beats his wife or not. Thieving SOB belongs in prison.
Here's a suggestion: Be a man and just say what you mean.
This is nonsense. Seligman is not "being accused", he is convicted. People in America do not need a "pass" to avoid interrogations. It is the Government that needs evidence of wrongdoing to require that Americans submit to interrogation. What is your evidence of wrongdoing by Karl Rove?
For Dems it is never about what you did wrong, but more why and how you got caught.
Former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (Democrat) already defended himself and stands convicted of bribery! The conviction is in appeal but Karl Rove was not asked to testify by Siegelman in his court case; Siegelman wants Karl Rove in front of Rep. John Conyers, Democrat of the looney left. Perhaps Karl Rove should testify before congress for the convenience of a Convicted Criminal!
Is it legal for a governor to set up a lobby?
purpleraine is a woman, dude...
I was understanding the guy was appealing. If I got that wrong, them I was wrong.
Thank you. I didn’t understand the context.
Siegelman is just throwing Rove’s name out there as a “dog whistle”, hoping the nutroots and their friends in DC (Conyers et al) and the media (Olbermann, Abrams) will hear the signal and come to his aid. And why wouldn’t they? After all, they all believe Rove is guilty of... well, pretty much everything really. Why wouldn’t they believe he’s responsible for Siegelman’s “wrongful” conviction as well?
