NEW YORK - A CNN reporter was arrested Friday in Central Park with a small amount of methamphetamine in his pocket, but he avoided jail time by agreeing to undergo drug counseling and therapy.
Richard Quest, 46, was arrested around 3:40 a.m. on a count of possession of a controlled substance — a misdemeanor that usually refers to a personal use amount of a drug. He was also charged with loitering; the park officially closes at 1 a.m.
When police saw and detained Quest, he told them, "I've got some meth in my pocket," according to the complaint filed in court. The complaint said he had a plastic sandwich bag containing methamphetamine in a jacket pocket.
Quest, who is British, is a correspondent for CNN International and is known for his reports on business travel. He hosts "CNN Business Traveler" and "Quest."
...CNN had no immediate comment on Quest's arrest.

I've always thought that guy was a little too amped for so early in the morning on CNN Financial.

I was kinda partial to Richard Quest....he runs a decent show and is usually very balanced on reporting...but I always got the impression that he was a bit peppy and “lit-up” on some kind of speed. There was a episode of the CNN International morning show (Europe-time) that he went on a comical confrontation effort against the regular financial wiz from the London bureau. This financial wiz almost lost his cool and would have slugged Quest if he had been a chance. I thought Quest did the thing on purpose to get slugged but now I’m thinking he was all lit up on some kinda drug at the time.
The interesting thing....if the guy is on meth...he is going downhill fast. I’ll bet he is turned loose within six months by the CNN squad.
I liked his brother, Johnny’s, show, when I was a kid. What ever became of Hadji and Bandit, I wonder?
