Smerconish: Hillary Will Lose PA Primary, Suspend Campaign
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Hillary–gone in a week? Yes, if you believe Michael Smerconish.

The Philly-based radio talk show host was the only Pennsylvanian on the panel on this evening's Race for the White House on MSNBC. He saved his bombshell for last. Nothing in the kibitzing preceding the show-closing Predictions segment foreshadowed Smerconish's surprising suggestion. But when it came time to break out the crystal ball, Smerconish unloaded.

MICHAEL SMERCONISH: Mine's a two-parter. Part one: Tuesday in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama 51, Hillary Clinton 49%. Part two: Thursday, 4 PM Eastern: Hillary Clinton suspends her campaign.

He underestimates the power of democratic voter fraud. She will win and win big.

can’t believe Chris M. said that! He hates HRC so much and has a HUGE man-crush on BHO. I used to watch him (I like to keep track of some of the “other side”) but totally stopped after his “thrill running up my leg” comment regarding BHO. Ugh.

Yes, I AGREE! Amazing how many don’t get Rush’s strategy and philosophy on this, either. He does NOT support either HRC OR BHO. This whole operation chaos is to accomplish just what you said, prolong the cock-fight as long as possible, hopefully creating a fatal rift within the democratic party. It wouldn’t matter which of their 2 candidates were leading.

I meant HRC, not HRO. Guess I have Obama on the brain (and not in a good way).

If Hillary looses the demoRATS nomination, both Clintons, and all their minions, will do everything to make sure that Obama looses to McCain. And it will be behind the scenes.

She can NOT take the chance of having to wait another 8 years to win the White House.

yes, you put your finger on it. I wasn’t that familiar with him, but the few times I’ve seen him on Beck, I was uncomfortable with him and kept wondering if he’s a liberal ‘cause he sure seems to talk like one and favor BHO. Okay, thanks for the enlightenment.

Obama won’t be the Dems’ 2008 candidate. He’s not even seriously running.

His job is merely to make Hillary look like a “centrist” while keeping the Dem primaries interesting to radicals.

Smerconish was the Big Kahuna in Morning Talk in Philly and Glenn Beck worked at WPHT in Philly Talk Radio Station. His show was Syndicated and sometime he had Smerconish on during the Crossover.. They must be Business associates....

Agreed. If she were able to pull this nomination out of the hat she'd be unstoppable. Vote Obama in PA.

God, I hope not. I want to see these two at each other's throat at least up to the convention. The sooner this is finished, the sooner the Dems and MSM can close ranks and go after the GOP. I really do not see why so many conservatives are anxious for this to end early.

Fully agree. There hasn't been enough blood-letting yet. It does seem, however, that the fix is in for Obama. The Dems seem to be getting their ducks in a row. Maybe somehow the Klintons can still pull it out, but it's looking like they won't.

My view of this is to do what the our gov't did during the Iran/Iraq war of the 80's: support whichever side is losing at the moment. Our job should be to make this as painful as possible for the Dems. Right now the polls show that Hillary is losing ground.

I've never understood the knee-knocking fear Hillary causes in some Freepers. She's the most inept, uninspired candidate in history.

It could all come down to a FOX Breaking news Bulletin 30 seconds after the polls close in PA that “Barack Obama has been declared the winner”. Imagine Hillary’s emotion that it should come down to this, after the years of humiliation with Bill to end this way. I hope there is a suicide watch.

I don't put much stock in what Smerconish says. His views are all over the map, and his thought process just doesn't seem coherent. Clinton has the backing of Gov. Rendell and Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia. Those two backers alone can make a big difference for her. I'm not seeing a lot of yard signs locally, but there are more for Obama than Clinton. Hard to get a reading from that, and I don't talk much to Democrats about their candidates. I tend to think that a lot of Pennsylvanians will ultimately go for the devil they know rather than one who just dissed rural Pennsylvanians so recently. While the state has a lot of Dems, it's not necessarily full of rabid leftists. Of the two, Hillary is the more conservative choice by virtue of being a known player. I'd put my money on her.

Bill Clinton was at our local high school tonight. Perhaps there will be some buzz tomorrow. Our 9th grader thought about going just for historical interest, but wasn't keen on waiting in line for 3 hours to see him.
