A proposal to change the LAPD's controversial policy dealing with undocumented immigrants picked up a powerful ally today, the Los Angeles Police Protective League. The union, which represents more than 9,000 LAPD officers, said it is backing a motion introduced last week by Los Angeles Councilman Dennis Zine that would require officers to check on the immigration status of gang members suspected of being undocumented immigrants -- even if they are not under arrest.
That motion would change LAPD's Special Order 40, which restricts officers' ability to inquire about a person's immigration status. In a statement, league President Tim Sands said:

ABOUT TIME.
Couldn’t agree more. Hopefully the crime statistics will plummet if LA takes this seriously.
That’s good news...
Special Order #40 was shoved down the throat of the LAPD by its Police Commission headed by Steven Reinhart, now a judge on the 9th US Court of Appeals.
Didn’t California just vote down a bill to deport DUI criminal illegal aliens? And I thought NY democrats were bad. You’ve got to get rid them clowns in the Legislature if there’s any hope of returning the state back into the USA.

Fact is crime in the LA area has been going down dramatically for some years now, and it's much less than most other major cities in other states.
A lot of people are watching this closely, and rest assured, it's taken very seriously by most. Most are beyond outraged at government at *every* level, pandering and aiding and abetting this invasion. Disturbing and alarming, does not begin to describe it.

And what has that to do with my comment? If you could be specific.
This is all just April in Los Angeles County. I don’t think I even put the first 8 days in.
Ok, the first 6 days. Add another 15 murders. Last year crime was down, not this year.
The fact that they don’t NOW check immigration status of gang members just blows my mind.
Once again, what has that to do with my comment? If you could be specific.
You wrote Fact is crime in the LA area has been going down dramatically for some years now. And I replied with what seems to me to be a disturbing count of 28 murders in 18 days. I dont know how to get more specific than that.
“Didnt California just vote down a bill to deport DUI criminal illegal aliens? “
If they did it was the legislature, there was no such thing on the ballot.
If this rate continues, there will be about 7,300 victims of shootings in the next 12 months in Chicago.
