As of the last Rasmussen poll, Obama was even with McCain in NC. Either he really has lost all confidence in his debate abilities, or this is a very short-sighted move on his part.

Obama stood a real chance of picking off a southern state or two in November, but he's just about thrown those chances away by running down working-class whites and failing to effectively play down his anti-American background. Taking NC Democrats votes for granted in May won't help, either.

FWIW, Sean Hannity asked George Stephanopoulos(sp?), when George was a guest on his radio show before the debate, to question Obama about his relation with Bill Ayers, the former Weather Underground terrorist. Now, he’s afraid to debate. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Hannity & George did this country a great service, IMHO.
