Decatur, Illinois
My wife and I just felt a very noticeable earthquake.
My 18 year old daughter sleeps through anything too but this woke her up...
Yep. We’re in Cincy too.
Meh...NewMadrid’s gonna blow out one of these days. I’m sure if I’m around I won’t giggle through it, but there is no reason to become Chicken Little when your Father created the universe.
LOL
Goes to show how early it is...I just saw the typo.
Heckuva day to quiT popping amphetamines. /airplane
Nah, it’s those boys who keep firing up HAARP.
;-)
St. Louis is reporting damage to a very old highway overpass bridge in the STL city limits.
Yeah, I heard a rumble also. At first I thought we were having a tornado.
If I don’t get some sleep this very old body is going to have permanent damage. And I don’t think insurance will pick up the bill, lol.
Countdown to “climate change” blame in 3...2...1...
This pic is seriously messing with my puter. And I’m on broadband. Just FYI. ;0)
I’m going back to sleep. If I don’t, the wrinkles will need more spackle than usual tomorrow.
Night all!
20 Miles north of Milwaukee, felt nothing.
That's appalling for a quake of this magnitude at that distance.
Perhaps some chunks of concrete just dropped off and it's nut structural.
It woke both up of us and our 23 yr old daughter up here in Indianapolis. My sister in Ft. Wayne also felt it and saw the walls move.
I remember the one about 20 yrs ago or so, but this one was longer.
I thought the same thing. I wasn’t sure if I should head to the basement or not.
Live in the Cincinnati area ... bed shook a little, but I thought it was the dog bumping the bed, he sleeps on the floor (on a dog mat) at the foot of the bed. Hard to tell the difference.
I was warm and toasty, in NE Indianapolis, and having a dream. Some guy said something I didn’t like and I told him to pound sand, in so many words.
Next thing I know, I’m awake and thinking the wind was blowing hard enough to shake the house. We’re due for possible thunderstorms today, so I figured it was a gust front from one of yesterday’s storms. The bed itself was shaking, and twenty or thirty items around the room clicking and clacking.
Dad fell three weeks ago, ER>ICU>rehab, so I’ve got one foot at his house, and one foot at my house outside the city, and I was worried his house had developed a structural problem that allowed wind load to move the second story.
I got up to head down to the basement, but the shaking let up, so I went to the bathroom, and after a few minutes the idea it might have been an earthquake popped into my head.
Near 30 years ago, I had heard the closet door between that bedroom and bathroom rattle for about 30 seconds, thought a burglar was inside and ran down to dinner. Several hours later, the TV news said it was an earthquake, three and change on the Richter scale. I was smiling over the idea that the only two quakes I’ve ever felt both occurred within ten feet of the same place in the same house and had pretty well convinced myself it was another quake. I estimated a 4.5 or so, since more stuff rattled than the quake several decades ago.
The TV confirmed it. Trying to decide now if I should stay up, or grab another hour of sleep before my new “job” as a nurse, taking care of dad, kicks in.
