Lieberman: Carter Is 'Naive' at Best
Thursday , April 17, 2008
Former President Jimmy Carter met another top Hamas official Thursday in a Cairo hotel and planned to meet more officials in Syria Friday, drawing the ire of dozens of U.S. lawmakers.
Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., told FOX News that "at best, President Carter is being naive" in trying to negotiate with avowed terrorists. "There is a long list of people who thought they could reason with dictators and killers, going back to Neville Chamberlain and Hitler in the 1930s, but it has been shown to be absolutely wrong."
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., told FOX News that she advocates revoking Carter's passport and supports a measure to withdraw all federal funding from his Georgia-based institution, the Carter Center.
"We have a policy in this country about Hamas and he is deliberately undermining that policy," Myrick said. "Why should we support his center when he will not support his government?"

“at best”
“at worst” a traitor.
“At best naive”? That’s putting the best face on it, Joe. Wonder what the good senator thinks privately?
“Naive” is far too kind to describe Carter. He’s anti-American, like most leftist RATS. That’s why they get so upset when anybody questions their patriotism, like Obama refusing to salute the flag.
Got away from his nurse and meds again.
Naive is one thing. I have a problem with aggressively-naive, though. Carter is aggressively naive. Aggressive naivete is a clever mask for pathological hatred.
I think Joe is trying to be nice. Since he’s a strong supporter of Israel I suspect his private thoughts run to something much stronger.
Anyone who heard Carter telling how he was going to sit the Syrians down and talk would know he is an arrogant traitor.
Who does he think he is? He’s just like Bill Clinton, who cannot stand being out of the White House.

No basis to revoke his passport, he hasn't broken any travel bans. Though I've raised questions about things like the Logan Act and various laws barring aid and advice to terrorist organizations if his statement
"Before I went to Nepal, I put in a call for Condoleeza Rice just to have a personal conversation with her about my plans," Carter said. "I went over the entire itinerary. She could not take my call because she was traveling in Europe, so she asked David Welch, who is the assistant secretary of state. We had a 20-minute conversation, which was very pleasant, never a single negative word and not a single request that I modify my itinerary."
is correct, he's undermined our nations foreign policy, but hasn't violated a thing. His acts are deserving of condemnation though, and it's not like the administration would pull his passport even if he deserved it.
Carter is a bitter old fool . He is like a suicide diplomat trying to strike back at the voters who rejected him . Maybe he should swing by Tehran and have a class reunion with the “students” who kidnapped our people .
Carter will have a Cabinet position under Obama. This mission is advance engineering to give “Black Panther” Obama a big diplomacy coup shortly after he is elected.
A frightening thought.
I can’t understand why his passport wasn’t revoked before he left the country.
Naive at best.
Stupid at worst.
But most probably trying to rehabilitate his image as the worst president in US history. His thinking: “If I can just swing one more peace deal then the whole world will love me and forgive me for my disastrous presidency.”
Bill Clinton must love Carter.
Naive at best.
Stupid at worst.
But most probably trying to rehabilitate his image as the worst president in US history. His thinking: “If I can just swing one more peace deal then the whole world will love me and forgive me for my disastrous presidency.”
Senator Lieberman is being entirely too kind in his assessment of Dhimmi Jimmuh.
He would be.
