Pelosi Statement on Presidents Announcement on Climate Change
Washington, D.C. Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today ahead of President Bushs expected announcement this afternoon of Administration efforts on climate change:
After seven years of denying the seriousness of the climate crisis and delaying tough action to save the planet, President Bush finally will discuss the subject this afternoon. With just nine months left in his term, the White House has already made clear that the Presidents announcement today will not reverse his record on global warming before he leaves office.
The President should encourage the efforts of governors and mayors across the country who stepped into the void of leadership when the Bush Administration failed to act. His Administration has been obstructing efforts by states, such as California, to take tough action against global warming.
The President should support the efforts of the New Direction Congress to pass historic cap-and-trade climate legislation, which will begin to limit emissions and serve as a basis for global cooperation. Instead, he is expected to reject all legislative efforts currently underway.
The President should begin using his regulatory power to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Instead, he has failed to utilize these tools, even in the face of the Supreme Courts ruling that the Environmental Protection Agency can take action to prevent greenhouse gas pollution.
As we are honored by the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, the President should heed his warnings about our moral responsibility to act, calling for a strong commitment to reverse those trends that risk making the situation of decay irreversible.
kinda reminds you of the Palestinians doesn’t it? Always feigning desire for peace if only Israel will work with them.
Hey Nancy, don’t you have some more allied countries to pi$$ off?
Democrats to Tell Kids: 'Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.' (Washington Post The Sleuth Blog February 28, 2008)
In the email, the speaker's press office advised other Democrats to visit an elementary school in their districts on March 3 and talk about the importance of reading. Pelosi's staff attached "frequently asked questions" about Read Across America, a fact sheet on President Bush's '09 education budget, a list of "the 47 education programs eliminated" in the president's budget and -- wait, there's more:"Blah, blah, blah, blah
Blah, blah, blah."
Bush capitulates and is scorned. Why capitulate? It gets you nothing.
LOL!
No, I think, like, on Mars maybe.
You know, he tried that when he trashed Kyoto?
Amazingly, nobody listened. The illegals must have been drowning him out. Now he has no pulpit. His supporters threw him under the bus.
Right, right. Sure. He KNOWS nothing he does or says at this point will make anyone like him and I sincerely doubt he cares anymore. He's about to leave office forever. Whichever of the three candidates left standing that takes his place WILL have a "green" agenda which is anti business. Anti business means anti jobs. So....making speeches that nobody will listen to is better than trying to get policies in place to save American jobs and keep this country at least within the realm of competitiveness. Rhetoric over action.
Sure. That's SO much better and more intelligent than doing anything.
Rush is pretty good, I listen to him frequently....but he's sometimes wrong. Being led down the wrong path is the risk you take when you allow someone else to do your thinking for you. Apt screenname you have there.
Prove capitulation.
Do WHAT? Are you telling me you’ll LIKE him if he says hey global warming doesn’t exist and then bye after leaving office while the UN dictates how much per day you are allowed to consume? You’ll love him for that, will you? Pull the other one, it’s got bells on. You’re quoting Rush, who isn’t thinking it through and who happens to be one factor in our choice of candidate this year.

....Coming from Mrs San Francisco values herself.
I just kissed the Pope’s ring and I’m feeling cocky now so listen up ya’ll....
Our sinking dollar means that it takes MORE dollars to buy the same amount of gas. It isn’t just “supply and demand”, it is also linked to our performance on the world economy.
George, leave well enough alone. Don’t screw with Mother Nature.
I've been telling that truth on an almost daily basis for 9 years now. Heck, I post it here all the time, as well as refusing to remain silent when brain dead people verbally excrete empty rhetoric. It's had no effect. Most people seem to have a mental filtering system against comprehending the truth when it's so much easier to just blame Bush The Oil Man - the same filter prevents them from comprehending that Al Gore is an Oil Man by the same criteria.
