What can you expect from a society that lives on, off past glories of its former heyday? What can you expect from a society that lives off the fantasies of a newly resurgent Muslim empire with the Caliphate restored, whose mindset, views of the world still mired in the 7th Century? What can you expect from a society the UN has reported to be dead last in every economic, social category level, poverty, illiteracy, whose GDP for the entire region, with the exception of oil, is less than that of the Netherlands? What can you say about a society that looks outward for what serves as the ultimate scapegoat for all the ills that overwhelming define their society as abject failure?
The US perfectly fulfills their need to blame everything that represents their society as the failure it is like nothing else.

We’re the big dog in the neighborhood, and they aren’t.
Simple as that.
They also can’t lick Israel. That makes them crazy.

Now if we could only get Rush elitists on FR, to stop kissing the ring of the saudi’s and not think that alternative energy is akin to kissing al gore’s ring, that would be a breakthrough.

OK they don't think the surge has "worked". But it has worked.
Most of them do not live in free countries, for example in a dictatorship like Syria they would be terrified to tell a pollster the truth.
And while they may view us "negatively" most of their governments cooperate with us, many rely on us for national survival.
I suspect this poll is an effort to compensate for the fact the rest of the world keeps electing pro American conservative governments. Italy, Germany, France, South Korea, - the list goes on.

In contrast, an ABC/BBC poll conducted in Iraq and released in March, appeared to show a 20% increase in the number of Iraqis who felt the surge was succeeding and described the security situation as good. The people's idea of the surge working in Iraq, is that it creates a safer environment for them to live. the surge working to other Arabs means America is losing and al Quaeda is winning.

Well, it sounds like the left in our country and the Arab world have a lot in common.
The Arabs have an excuse though, most Arabs can’t read so the get all of their information from the mouths of spiritual leaders. They also have no access to media outlets that aren’t anti-West/Israel. And they’re taught from a young age to hate America and the Jews.
What’s the left’s excuse??????

They sound xenophobic. They should get political re-education.

Surprise, surprise, here’s the message the MSM is trying to portray.
**** “A majority of Arabs believe that if US troops withdraw from Iraq, Iraqis would be able to bridge their differences, the survey found.” ****

Their differences with Iran, Sudan, Jordan, et al that are sending IN troops?

Well, no. Say it ain’t so.
The bigger danger to the US might not be the muslims, but the totally clueless people who really think there are moderate muslims and Islam is really a religion of peace.
