ELDORADO, Texas (AP) - State officials Tuesday defended their decision to suddenly separate mothers from many of the children taken in a raid on a polygamist ranch in West Texas. Texas Children's Protective Services spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner said the separation was made Monday after they decided that children are more truthful in interviews about possible abuse if their parents are not around.

I hope the state has more evidence than a phone call from an anonymous 16 year old. I’m a person who believes in capital punishment for anyone who rapes a child but the state still has to prove it while abiding by the law. It would be surprising if they didn’t have more evidence than just a phone call.

Did you know that because his wife may share his religious values and approves of girlfriends that there is no violation of any law as long as his concubines are legal age(look that up in the Bible if you have one smart boy.) You're saying the Holy Bible supports adultery now? You're truly not long for FR my confused non-lawyer friend. However I congratulate on your newfound spelling of "religious" it's surely an improvement, but it's amazing that you had to learn it from me on FR, not in HS, college or especially law school where the word comes up a few million times.

They went in to check for the girl, and found dozens of pregnant 12-16 year old girls.
Plenty of justification, in my view. They also know about beatings and so on from the cult this one branched off from.
Somewhere around here is a link to an article about the high percentage of SEVERE birth defects (Children with IQs of 25!) in this cult.
Just the fact that these children don’t even know who their real mothers are is damning.

Wouldn’t that be for anyone getting legally married?
As I understand it, the young girls aren’t “legally” married, as with a state marriage license, but in some kind of “spiritual” ceremony.

And it’s parental consent, not the girls (think about it).

Isn't all of this based on some anonymous calls from an unidentified girl/woman?If this is true, and I have not followed this event, then I would say there are some hard questions needed to be asked.

I guess there were dozens of immaculate conceptions at this cult, since you don’t believe pregnant little girls constitutes “credible evidence” of rape.

Who cares what the slaves think? They aren’t supposed to have an opinion, don’t you know.

I am sick of our government thinking it can do whatever the hell it wants, whenever the hell it wants to, as if the Constitution is a mere suggestion that may be brushed aside whenever some government yahoo thinks the situation warrants it.
Either we have a Constitution, or we do not. All of you people who are hopping up and down saying "Yippee, the government just launched a successful military assault on a community and put its inhabitants in segregated internment camps!" should go ahead and renounce your American citizenship right now. What is the point of claiming to live by Constitutional principles if we toss them aside any time some anonymous caller says that its for the children? Supposedly, the police are prevented from entering my house without a warrant showing cause and confiscating my stuff, yet these guys can launch an assault on an entire community, invade their homes, and steal their children? Come on.
I've seen plenty of people excuse all of these blatant violations by saying that we must do this to protect the children from evil child molestors. Well, how about if wait until we have a little something called "evidence" before we go mass-convicting a whole group of people? Is that too much to ask for in this Constitutional republic of ours?
What a frightening number of people here are missing is that we have a case where our own government just engaged in the most severe expression of sheer force on its citizens that we have witnessed in any country, and they did that on the mere claim of hearsay. That's right, folks. Not only was the phone tip mere hearsay, but it is actually only a claim of hearsay, because, apparently, nobody can find the girl who supposedly called even to confirm that the phone call happened, yet even stalwart members of FR have readily given their blessing to the government's invasion of private property, and seizure of children. This means that the government is now aware that a certain number of people will believe anything as justification for any act, without asking for any proof.
We are overdue for a totalitarian regime in this country, quite frankly. We have the populace for it.

How about you check out the new Covenant, you know, Jesus Christ. One man for one woman. It’s there, all you have to do is read it.

The “mothers” that are permitting their daughters to be violated by 50 year old men should be locked away for life along with the 50 year old perverts.
