They went in to check for the girl, and found dozens of pregnant 12-16 year old girls.

Plenty of justification, in my view. They also know about beatings and so on from the cult this one branched off from.

Somewhere around here is a link to an article about the high percentage of SEVERE birth defects (Children with IQs of 25!) in this cult.

Just the fact that these children don’t even know who their real mothers are is damning.

I don’t know if you saw it this morning, but Fox interviewed three of the women. Let me tell you, this was CREEPY. The way they spoke was so very strange, almost as if they were repeating something they heard off-camera or something. Was someone feeding them lines? Maybe they are, as they say, caring mothers, but something’s wrong here. I’m sure the purpose of the interview was to gain support from the “jury pool” but it might have accomplished exactly the opposite.

Up in Idaho a related group (still calls itself Church of the First Born) has several thousands of members. The state welfare folks were able to determine that they had the highest rate of infant mortality of any identifiable group in the state.

Most of these groups refuse medical care except for broken bones. Yesterday (Sunday) a cult expert (who'd grown up in one of these groups) used the word "physician abuse" in the same sense I'd seen in several news stories about this group. What that means is not "someone abusing physicians" but that the group leadership elite (the alpha male and his horndog cronies) refuse women and children the services of physicians.

We don't yet know if that's the case with this gang of FLDS but if they have a high percentage of retarded kids it could be the case.
