Before anyone mentions it I meant “there.”
A bump for Alan’s principles but not his strategy.
God has a strategy. In the end, that’s all that really matters.
March around Minneapolis seven times! ;^)
Nah. I’ve shaken the GOP dust off my feet, so what happens at their convention in Minneapolis doesn’t concern me much.
I’ve seen their last two conventions shun conservatives and glorify liberals.
It’s time for conservatives to open their eyes to the true situation. All the Republican Party has for you is half-hearted lip service followed by a kick in the butt. And that’s being mild about it.
It’s time to make a very clear distinction between the RNC and the GOP.
The elite in the RNC don’t speak for the GOP and it’s time we force them out. The (R) brand is too precious to walk away from.
With equal respect back at ya ... ;*)
It seems that FR is a forum for discussion of many sides of issues.
You are a very intelligent guy and I'm sure you understood my point. The constant snipping by the yap dogs grew old almost a year ago. If they have something pertinent to add to the discussion, fine. The constant inane, unsubstantiated, irrelevant snipping is what I object to. While I may show up on threads about a candidate I have no use for, I do try to add something to the discussion beside stupid comments like "Who?" and the like.
Now YOU...YOU posted something of value to contribute to the discussion. ;*)
I commented on their platform earlier. I'm in wait and see mode.
ALTHOUGH --
a declaration of war by Congress, as required by the United States Constitution;
The Great One, Mark Levin, who also happens to be a constitutional lawyer, has dissected that argument many times. "Authorization for Use of Military Force" can only be described as a declaration of war.
That has been my concern about the party all along, as you probably already know.
EV said they will be working on the platform. I'll take a look at it again after that.
Huh? I love your smiley face, btw. ;*)
We had a similar problem when there was a live thread with a congressional candidate in '06. Keep on keeping on!
You may have a point there. They certainly offer nothing of substance. The "he's not hillbama" was old when jon carry used that tactic in 2004.
I would imagine the RINOs will sarcastically have comments but maybe deep down there might be some concern for a conservative backlash? Just thinkin'.
Seriously, you didn't just say that, did you? The anti-McCainiacs (border security, 3rd Party nuts and bilderburger tinfoil whackos) squat and defecate all over every single McCain article until they drive away any thoughtful analysis.
“Lets not compare Alan Keyes to Abrahamm Lincoln - I dont think he could stand up to the comparison. Thats just silly.”
I wasn’t looking to compare the two from the point of view of their stature or what they will or have contributed. The point was that what was likely viewed at the time as an ill-advised political move, joining a new and relatively untested political party, was in retrospect shown to be fairly astute.
“Although just only 100 posts on this thread, it has already been viewed over 1100 times. That means SOMEONE out there is mightily interested in Mr. Keyes and the Constitution Party.”
Bingo. If Amb. Keyes’ candidacy was so irrelevant, why all the posts noting it’s irrelevance? If it were truly irrelevant, it would be ignored. If I were to post a story noting that Amb. Keyes got out of bed this morning, it would attract at least 50 posts, most of which would hasten to add that Amb. Keyes was irrelevant, a kook, etc. etc.
The GOP and it’s minions are deeply concerned about a potential replay of 1992. They realize that there is a certain percentage of conservatives who will not willingly carry the water for a nonconservative candidate. There’s a real easy way for the GOP to avoid a 1992 scenario in my view: run better and more conservative candidates.
“The (R) brand is too precious to walk away from.”
I respectfully disagree. The GOP brand is badly damaged. The years of 2002 through 2006 did a pretty good job of tarring the GOP as a corrupt and inept political party. The GOP had control of the Presidency, both Houses of Congress, most legislatures, and most governorships. Did it use this amazing level of power to do something, well, conservative? It did not. Worse, the GOP appears pathologically unable to learn from it’s mistakes and change course.
Given time and a significant amount of resources, the GOP brand could be restored. I just don’t think it’s worth the effort. We (conservatives) would be better off with a clean slate.
Yep, watch what they mean (growing concern), not what they say (discounting, indifference and keeping up a false front).
Squat and defecate?.
..How did you end up so meanspirited against FReepers....?.
..when did it happen?..
..or were you always a closet anti-FReeper?

From "read my lips," to Bob "Viagra" Dole, to lost opportunities during the last eight years that would have limited the size and scope of gov't, to the present McLiberal -- it is time to chart a new course and win back the GOP or start over. The issues are too compelling to fold our tent and concede. Illegal immigration, abortion, Supreme Court nominations, 2nd Amendment, terrorism, war and communist threats (China, N, Korea), capital punishment, the homosexual agenda, global "warming," etc., etc. McCain doesn't represent my views and opinions on most of these issues, nor does he represent a majority on this forum.
