Oops, the pictures of the women were at post #299.

There were a fair number of women pictured who did not have a wedding ring on their right hand. Maybe only the first wife gets the ring.

The protections enacted by our Founders were to prevent injustices in the pursuit of justice. If the Texas authorities can't follow the rules, then they deserve to be ineffective and held responsible for the resulting harm and lack of prosecution.

Trouble is they won't be. No one will lose their job over this charliefox. You can mark my words on that one, too. The only thing they'll say is "we tried our best." Except they didn't.

Torture of the accused might be effective also, but we don't allow that nor would many of us support it.

You obviously haven't read many of the threads on this subject. Far too many Freepers are willing to entirely disregard Constitutional protections for these weirdos. That's what's scary.

Now I don't like these people any more than anyone else. If these allegations are true, as I suspect many of them are, then the Texas authorities should be scrupulously observing every Constitutional requirement so that the perps receive every single day in prison the law can give them.

But I suspect that because of the way things are being done it's going to end like the large polygamy prosecution did back in the '50s, with no one at all being charged with a crime that will stick.

By the way, I like the "reflective" pose - along with the folded hands. Too bad she wasn't as "reflective" about her children.

Ouch...I think you nailed it with that comment!

A sect member whose wife shot the video said ranch residents quickly got the impression that state officials "were doing something more than they said they were going to do."

DUH!

Why on earth do you think I’m defending either slavery or polygamy?

I’m saying that those of you claim the Bible CONDEMNS SLAVERY are factually incorrect no matter how much you feel better to believe otherwise.

Conservatives are supposed to have opinions based on truths and facts.

You can say the Bible implies it’s condemnation of slavery but you can offer no pro0f whereby anyone who wrote the Bible actually condemns it. Quite revealing given the Bible was written at a time when slavery was omnipresent and written by Hebrews who had been both slave and master in their history.

You know....you folks are no different than liberals.

You jump right on your high horse and make broad pronouncements that I condone or defend slavery because I correctly state that the Bible does not condemn it.

That is all.

You PC freepers are so eat up with racial sensitivity that it clouds any interpretation you might have of empirical evidence.

If the Bible actually did condemn slavery I would be glad to say so but it does not except by maybe far reaching implication or extrapolation which as I said is remarkable given that slavery was a facet of life in Biblical times. Were they as obsessed with at some FReepers one would think they would have addressed it specifically and substantially as in maybe the 10 Commandments.

Btw...one can take the Golden Rule and use it to imply any action deemed offensive to another human as condemning that practice by implication.

This same sort of argument is now used by Environmentalists to claim being mean to the earth is unChristian too.

The only thing they'll say is "we tried our best." Except they didn't.

And you know this how?

Do you have special information on what's going on that we don't that you know this to be the case?

Are you in law enforcement?

Is this sort of thing your area of expertise?

What did they do wrong?

What should they have done?

That means nothing.

They've isolated themselves from the big, bad world.

They don't know how it functions. It's all just PR crap.

Tanks? Trucks? Sorry, but you lost credibility with those falsehoods.

I am looking at Fox news films right now and see tanks labeled SHERIFF rolling into the community. I see a bus that looks like a truck. I see a mother of three children who claims her teen age girls are being guarded by men and are afraid to sleep on the cots provided. The older girls are trying to protect the younger ones by having them crawl under the cots to sleep while the older ones sit on the cot staying awake to protect them. When they use the bathroom the girls are not allowed to close the door. I don't know if they were treated more brutally in the cult, but then who does? ... and shouldn't someone know before visiting this nightmare on their heads?

And you know this how?

Because I've seen and worked with the best.

Do you have special information on what's going on that we don't that you know this to be the case?

No 'special information' is required by anyone with even the most rudimentary education or experience in the field.

Are you in law enforcement?

Not currently.

What did they do wrong?

They obtained a Warrant on hearsay. Any 3rd year Law student will get that tossed.

What should they have done?

Interviewing an actual victim would have been a pretty good start.

I know trucks and I know buses, but I don’t know about buses that look like trucks. I also wasn’t aware of Sheriff department tanks.

Do you mean that they used buses to transport the children and that the sheriffs had an armored car or two?

Do you a have link to this video?

Try watching Fox news, they have been running it all evening. Or try their website. I’m saying what I saw with my own eyes and where I saw it.
