TRACY LaGONDINO is pregnant, and that news has drawn a fair amount of attention. It's been in People magazine, on "Oprah," all over the Internet. Tracy's baby, due in July, is doing well. But Tracy has a serious problem, and the rest of us do, too.
A 34-year-old who grew up in Hawaii and used to compete in beauty contests - she was once a finalist in the Miss Hawaii Teen USA pageant - Tracy, who now calls herself Thomas Beatie, apparently suffers from Gender Identity Disorder, syndrome 302.85 in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association. According to news accounts, she has felt uncomfortable with her female identity since adolescence. When she was in her 20s, the Telegraph of London reported, "she became more masculine," began a lesbian relationship, "and researched what it meant to be a transgender male." There followed breast-removal surgery and testosterone injections. Tracy/Thomas grew a beard, changed her legal identity to male, and married her partner, Nancy.
But it takes more than a mastectomy and hormone treatments to overturn biology. Thomas may be a man in the eyes of the law, but she remains physically a woman, with a woman's reproductive system, a woman's genitals, and a woman's chromosomes. So when she and Nancy decided to have a baby, she had little trouble conceiving through artificial insemination. The result is the spectacle that has drawn so much attention: a bearded pregnant woman named Thomas, who identifies herself as a man, and has a lawfully wedded wife.
What you make of all this depends on your political outlook. Transgender activists, radical feminists, and others at the cultural extreme who insist that sex differences between men and women are patriarchal constructs, not hardwired facts of life, will applaud Thomas and Nancy as gender-bending pioneers...

What a screwed up freak - by choice!
Sad.
Hermaphrodites are indeed folks who have a birth defect, and thank goodness for medical science to help repair it.
The transgendered have all the normal parts of their birth sex, they just 'feel' as if they are of the opposite sex. It is a mental disorder that has been encouraged by the lack of sexual norms and members of the psychiatric profession who should have known better.
I know a number of transgendered people, all male-to-female as it happens. They are deeply disturbed individuals, and surgery does not cure their problems. It just makes them worse. The suicide rate among post-surgery transsexuals is astonishingly high -- higher than those who do not have the surgery.
I feel for this unborn child.
Nancy begins a lesbian relationship with an attractive woman, surely because she prefers women's bodies to men's. Now, her woman has changed to a man - a least from the waist up. Scratchy beard & all.
Wonder which half she loves the most?
Poor Nancy! She wanted a woman, but married a he-woman. She must be very confused right now!
This was once called a sideshow freak. And people would pay big money to see it.
That’s something I’ve often been confused about myself. Why does a woman who is a lesbian always find the butchest looking women to date? And men who are gay.....why do they find the most effeminate men to date.
Isn’t her 15 minutes about up? I know I had enough of this story after the original 30 second sound bite I heard. I’m not giving her any more of my attention.
You're not a man, and you never will be, you sick, selfish, pathetic excuse for a human being. I'm sorry, but anyone who willfully brings a child into the world under these circumstances deserves nothing but contempt.
Sick, selfish motherf*#@ers is what they are...
(”Man,” my fanny!)
The way things have been portrayed, I thought she'd had a major sex change. She has fur and no mammaries? That just makes her circus material.
Its surprising (NOT) as to what lengths the gay agenda will go to in a vain attempt to justify their perversions.
At least is a logical reason for Him/her to carry the baby instead of the other partner. I still wonder who supplied the egg and of course who supplied the sperm to fertilize it, since neither of them could do that.
If she sees herself as a male why didnt she have her female partiner artificially inseminated? I think she has more than just gender identity issues...
There is much similarity between transgenderism and anorexia.
