ACLU, Janet Reno injecting themselves into Gitmo tribunals
One News Now ^ | April 14, 2008 | Chad Groening

Posted on 04/14/2008 11:04:59 AM PDT by MitchellC

John Armor, an attorney for a conservative alternative to the ACLU, is outraged the legal group has launched a multi-million dollar campaign in an effort to provide private council for illegal enemy combatants who are facing military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) says the ACLU is at it again, this time spending $8.5 million and teaming up with the criminal defense Lawyers and former Clinton attorney general Janet Reno to lend a helping hand to terrorists, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.

Armor, legal counsel to the ACRU, says the rules of the tribunals allow for private civilian counsel to sit in and assist the military counsel at the trial if the defendant requests one. "Colonel Steve David is the man who is in charge of the military defense, and he's had his people studying with the American Bar Association Death Penalty Project -- which has the same attitude as the ACLU, which is [to] put up all possible burdens and barriers to the death penalty," Armor points out.

According to Armor, the defense team will attempt to try the case in the media. He believes the ACLU wants to turn these trials "of some of America's most dedicated enemies into a media circus with a maximum of delays."

"I think that what we're looking at is not a legal effort but a public relations effort, because I think they know that these defendants are likely to be found guilty and are likely to be sentenced to death -- and you will not have a squeamish jury as you now have in ordinary civilian trials for criminals," Armor contends.

Armor believes the defense team will do everything it can to avoid the death penalty for its clients. This story illustrates, he believes, why the United States maintains the Guantanamo Bay facility.

After Reno killed all the people at Mt. Carmel, and sent Elian Gonzalez back to Cuba, weren’t we supposed to feel sorry for Janet Reno for some disease or other?

Apparently, she’s just as stupid as ever.

We should expect BATF to burn the place down?

So the former pre-eminent law ENFORCEMENT officer in the Clinton Administration is siding with terrorist “defendants.”

She’s a bigger load than I thought.

This is hysterical given that el Reno was the STATE ATTORNEY FOR DADE COUNTY FL (now Miami-Dade County). She was in charge of prosecution.

I recall that whenever Janet reno came under fire during the 90’s she would animate her Parkenson’s symptoms. I recall one incedent that could only be describes as The Funky Chicken.

Either a way to make it to the papers or for voters to remember how “glorious” the Clinton years were and to vote for Hillary. Perhaps she actually wants to do the Gitmo so that she can have an excuse to see Elian and to ask how he is doing and give him government(our government that is) approved manuals on how great Castro is(no matter who it is) and the John Lee Anderson book on Ernesto. They can have lots of fun waving the Ernesto flag.

The way we treat Illegal Immigrants yet one little boy from Cuba, an Island Dictatorship, is returned back is not only a curse of moral relativism but it makes no sense. I also think that, to Janet Reno, her little Kent State wrap-off with Waco and Elian are good deeds. It doesn’t matter that she called what looked like an army to deal with some isolated Charlie Manson nuts, or that her big thing was that they were religious, in Texas, and carrying firearms. To her giving a spray of mortar fire was more important than disobeying the 550 international laws that said don’t go after OBL, let him crash planes into buildings but don’t go after him.

Give me one good reason to like Janet Reno, Hillary’s third pick for Attorney General who makes the Liberal’s characterization of John Ashcroft look like a Civil Libertarian.

It’s a pity we can’t get the red Chinese to work with us. We could hand them over to Chinese custody and get the panties of the ACLU and Reno in a bind. They support the Communists, but not the interrogations.

Since the ACLU is an acknowledged Communist Front Org. what does that tell you about the people that rush to their side to support their causes?

We are continually amazed at what should not - anymore - surprise us. I don’t know why that is; but the depths of degradation that these people give rise to; no matter what level of low we adjust to; they just go lower. . .

I will go a step farther: Janet Reno = Heinrich Himmler in Drag.

Guess the ol’ Bloodlust is back again. She apparently feels the need to help out her partners in crime who EQUALLY enjoy murdering americans.
