Barak Obama has now explained why small-town, penny-ante peckerwoods like moi utter vicious anti-trade and anti-immigrant rhetoric. He also explains why we like playing around with guns, bibles and other things Barack thinks are too dangerous to allow in public without arrogant, liberal supervision. He took a fund-raising junket to San Francisco and figured it would be safe to let the hemline of his Trotskyite slip show. While amongst the condescending, self-selected elite by the bay, he had the following to say about small town America.
Its not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who arent like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
William Kristol claims Barack was inspired by the lofty, epistemological bong smoke of Karl Marx. Once, while critiquing the august moral sentiments of Hegel, no less, Marx wrote the following.
Religious suffering is at the same time an expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the sentiment of a heartless world, and the soul of a soulless condition. It is the opium of the people.
I once studied Karl Marx. I even understood a portion of what I read. Well enough, in fact, to regurgitate all over the final and escape with a mighty B-minus. Having read Krazy Karl and having listened to Barack Obama, I kind of think William Kristol is terribly unfair to poor, deceased Karl Marx.
The juxtaposition of the quote from Barack and the original sentiment from the sinister Prince of Liberal Darkness gives me an inkling of just how far Lucifer must have truly fallen. Modern liberalism is not only merely derivative of its classical forbearers; it is also devolutionary and acridly bitter.
Karl Marx genuinely bled from the heart for these people; Barack Obama wouldnt urinate on them after three beers. He considers them the suckers; he meant voters, whom he has to bilk into putting his perfumed derriere into higher positions of responsibility.
I scratch my Cro-Magnon, small-town bred, Conservative forehead and try to make my tiny, little rustic brain remember what it was like in Chester, Virginia. Back in the bad, old days when Dad and all the other men in town just sat around the garage resentfully adjusting their kerosene hats to smelt the meth up just right.
Oh yeah, there werent any bad old days. All through school, Dad and all the other men on my street had pretty solid employment. So did most of the Moms. So did us kids; once the dumb, old dads told us to get off our 4th points of contact and seek work or pay rent.
Then there was Boy Scout Troop 877. It was the place where we went to go cling to a bunch of useless traditions; like not picking your nose during the Pledge of Allegiance. I was one of four Eagle Scouts in a two year span from that particular troop. Of the four, Im fairly certain I have the most reason of any to cling to my stupid values the way Linus used to cling to his blanket.
One of my cohort attended The US Naval Academy, another runs a law practice in Denver, Colorado. The third went on to UVA Business School and probably owns his own corner of Wall Street. I doubt I could afford the rent in his building.
I maxed out with a Masters from UCLA, and now work as a journeyman Civil Servant. What can I say? If I lived in Barack World, Id be playing around with my guns and religion to make myself feel less insignificant, while I sat in the garden and ate worms.
Of course, in a legitimate small town like Chester, people would stare at me like I had lost it. Outside Barack Obamaworld, you dont eat the worms. You take them to Murphys Pond and try your luck at fishing. Outside San Freakcisco, you dont sit around and get bitter about not having a job if you expect your family to still speak to you.
Its not just that Barack Obama doesnt understand America; he pities us. There are few people in the world I want in control of my destiny less than someone who only notices my existence to take pity on me in my antediluvian state of nature. Pity is an emotion that comes up on the flip side of contempt. Pity presupposes the assumption that its object lacks enough redeeming traits to hold any significant value.
In plain English, Barack pretty much thinks that about 80% of the current US population sucks like a fluffer in a San Fernando Valley backlot production. They just dont measure up to his enlightened philosophy or to the profundity of his Nobel Laureate edumacayshun. Hes so much brighter than the rest of us that he just has to stoop down sometimes and tell us why we shouldnt be sticking that fork in the light socket.
When Barack Obama spends time with normal Americans, its against his will and better instincts. Its a noblesse oblige sort of a thing. He has to be seen amongst the hoi polloi every so often so that we all can still believe in hope and change. He will tolerate shaking your hand, but only because he sincerely believes it will improve you as a human being.
The Late William F. Buckley once wrote a scathing critique of Eleanor Roosevelt. Amongst his bill of particulars against both her and her world view was the line that she viewed the world as her own personal slum project. That, to me, is how Barack Obama views most of America outside the municipal limits of Chicago, LA, San Fran or New York. He flies over most of our nation to reach destinations he believes are civilized.
But in writing us all off, he condemns himself to utter failure. Even should he win next November, he cannot lead America to greatness while simultaneously viewing our people with utter contempt and disgust. Part of what made Henry of Navarre such a great French King was his fundamental understanding that Paris was well worth the mass.
The only thing media-conformist upper crusters know about legal guns is that they cause the unsightly bulges in the jackets of the high-priced security they have to hire to protect their arrogant a**es from “the people” they allegedly revere.
Poor Barack & Michelle, they just don’t “get it” at all. Sure wish I had gone to one of them there Ivy Leaque schools to learn how to be a dumbass elite like they are, but I was too busy getting my butt shot off in Viet Nam at the time trying to make way for idiots like these two to live a decent and honorable life. Looks to me as though I failed a few folks and I regret it! To hell with them!
Has someone put something in the FR-water today?

Love this line: “...figured it would be safe to let the hemline of his Trotskyite slip show.” People just give me strange looks when I say the Demo choices are a Marxist and a Muslim-Marxist.
... tryin’ to return fire at them snippers!
Exactly. He’s putting down people for being, in his view, too superstitious and backward to realize that HE is the way for all of America!
I always get a chuckle out of liberals who say that the working class would be voting Democrat except for the unimportant “wedge” issues like guns, same-sex marriage, and abortion. First off, the proposition that higher taxes for all is good for the working class is highly dubious at best. Second, if these social issues are truly “unimportant,” then the Democrats should just cave in so that they can get their much more important (accorting to their words) economic program in place. But when you say that to them (and I have), they go into a full-throated defense of their positions on those social issues, giving the lie to their initial argument that these concerns are “merely secondary” or “a distraction.”
Obama will not get the Reagan Democrats to vote for him. so he poked some fun at them in front of a “friendly” crowd, partly to whine that they don’t like him because they are too stupid to appreciate him. Boo-hoo-hoo!
When was the last time you got back to Chester? I don’t think you’d recognize the place now, Richmond’s eating it up.
I’m a small-town Virginia kid too (smaller, in fact) and you hit it right on the head. At best, he was pandering to the San Cramcrisco wealthy by trying to brush the folks in Flyover Country off as just a bunch of hicks; at worst, he actually believes it.
