This weekend, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright made his first comments since his public sermons made national headlines.
He came out swinging, once again attacking the United States for racism. He also singled out Fox News for criticism.
Speaking Saturday at a eulogy for former appellate Judge R. Eugene Pincham, a member of Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ, Wright blamed the Founding Fathers for the woes of blacks today, claiming they planted slavery and white supremacy in the DNA of this republic.
Wright cited Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who recently said the country has a congenital birth defect owing to its constitutional acceptance of slavery.
Wright also described Thomas Jefferson as having engaged in pedophilia.
But his most heated comments were targeted at Fox News, which he called "Fix News."
Fox News cant understand that, Wright exclaimed. [Bill] OReilly will never get that. Sean Hannitys stupid fantasy will keep him forever stuck on stupid when it comes to comprehending how you can love a brother who does not believe what you believe. [Pinchams] faith was a faith in a God who loved the whole world not just one country or one creed.
Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, a member of Wright's church, has distanced himself from some of Wright's comments but refuses to condemn his former pastor or resign from the church.
President Thomas Jefferson is considered one of the founders of the democratic party, so what does that say for them? And what about Mohammed, Jeremiah? Wasn't he a proven pedophile?
He left out Oprah?
i heard o’reilly’s spiel about wright and it was unfair.
This guy is SO toxic. No way could I listen to him hollering every Sunday.
What did he say?
Keep talking, Jerry.
I am guessing that this wasn’t Jeremiah Bullfrog’s “Joy To The World” Speech
That older generation of race mongers have become so pathetic. I really take pity on them. They’ve held on to their anger for way too many decades. Times have changes, but these old timers haven’t not. They still think they’re living in the days of Jim Crow. And, to be blunt, they act like they wish they were.
Rev. Wright, the downfall of Obama
Bring it on, wrong Rev. Wright!! Your ranting reminds voters of the connection between you and Obama, and they ask why he stuck with his church 20 years listening to this Black racist. It doesn’t gain him votes other than those of Code Pink and other unrepentant anti-American haters.
Socialist/Fascist leaders in the past have relied on the facade of false (but superficially "appealing") ideals to cover their true intentions, and Obama and company are essentially doing the same thing - seeking "cover" for an agenda and set of beliefs that would not yet be at all acceptable to a majority of voting Americans ...
Whether he can be elected will depend, almost entirely, on how well the lies can be persuasively exposed.
If it's so bad here for blacks, then why are blacks from Africa (not to mention folks from other less developed parts of the world) desperate to get here?
Any Americna blacks who are mired in poverty have no one to blame but themselves. Instead of pointing the finger at "whitey" and throwing tantrums like Dr. Wright's, they should take advantage of the immense opportunities and freedoms here to pull themselves up and succeed in life. Anything less is just childish and immature.
So if Rev. Wright doesn't believe in what Sean Hannity believes in, he's also stuck on stupid? I know, I know. The obvious question reveals itself!
o’reilly’s major complaint was wright’s lack of appreciation for the united states.
that’s not fair. whites criticize their government without being attacked as wright was attacked.
also, wright’s old enough to remember the structural racism of america.
a black woman i know said wright was correct because she remembers black men in her home town when she was a child in alabama being hung.
I hang my head in shame when I remember there was time when I actually wanted to see this woman POTUS. Which only goes to prove "A drowning man will clutch at a snake."
A bloody Civil War that took 640,000 lives, black and white, and it cut the slavery poison out of the American body. My family lost many who fought to free the black man from bondage—they were abolitionist and were treated like dirt in the Union Army. They died with black soldiers at The Crater. To talk like Rev. Wright is to dishonor those men, black and white who gave their last full measure to win freedom.
As someone that studies the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have listened to Rev. Wrights sermons and can find little connection with the Bible. I find more connection with social gospel than Christian gospel.
