When Truth Matters, Brain Scanning Lie Detector Now Commercially Available CEPHOS, the world leader in brain imaging deception research, offers fMRI brain scanning for truth verification to the public
TYNGSBORO, Mass. After eight years of extensive research, numerous published studies and presentations to the scientific community, Cephos announces the availability of functional MRI-based lie detection/truth verification services to the general public.
"In today's litigious society, an accusation alone can cause serious damage to a person's reputation, relationships and financial position," says Dr. Steven Laken, Founder and President of Cephos. "Our services have the ability to clear someone's name at the onset--be it verifying an alibi or deducing the truth behind a harassment or adultery claim--before suspicion and accusations take on a life of their own."
The use of functional MRI technology (fMRI) for lie detection has been widely acknowledged both in the field of science and by the general media. To date, 19 published peer reviewed articles on the topic have appeared in numerous scientific journals and over 10,000 articles using fMRI have appeared in other journals.
I am so screwed...
wonder if they use the same probablity algorithms that the subprime guys used...
Paging Senator Kennedy.
Yeah and add the whole Clintoon family to the list
there is a REASON lie detectors are inadmissible in court.
An astute liar can fool ANY system. This seems more along the lines of the “spy store” stress detector.
I hear it’s a definite improvement over the standard lie detector. Instead of measuring things like heart rate and skin response, which can be controlled, it directly measures brain activity. The idea is that lying produces lots of activity in the area of the brain responsible for problem solving, since when telling the truth one doesn’t have to worry about conflicting events, and does when lying.
unless you have prepared lie story
I just want something small and innocuous I can hold up and have beep every time the candidate at the podium lies to me. That would probably get me ejected, but it would be a lot of fun until the security guys showed up.
So every time I try to think logically, a deliberate active process, the machine says I'm lying. Did this come from the onion?
No system is perfect of course, but even with a regular lie detector, the questions have to be suited around the machine’s abilities to read.
Pathological liers are impervious to lie detectors, as they don’t know fact from fiction.
Ted Kennedy speech: “Blah blah blah blah ~~~”
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP ~~~~~~
;o))
I think this is what was featured on Mythbusters. They had three people do it. One of the three fooled the machine.
And I have a bridge I'd like to sell you....
I see you know my ex-wife.
You too lazy to provide the link?
Maybe because it has this at the top of its page:
PR-inside.com is a website for the free submission of public relations distribution, news, and press releases.
and my brother !!
In my experience, too, the best liars are also the most gullible of people. They convince themselves first, and do not actually believe they are lying.
