And now to add to the ever-lengthening list of Obamessiah apologists comes TV and Radio talker Alan Colmes to say that Barack Obama is right, Middle America IS filled with racist, overly religious, gun-nuts.
On his LiberalLand blog (the formerly secret blog he was hiding from the greater world), Sean Hannity's co-host said the following:
And just where is he wrong? Pointing out why people may be bitter or frustrated, that there is xenophobia, that people sometimes cling to religion or feel paranoid about the government and embrace guns doesnt mean you hate or disdain a portion of the population.
First of all people do not "cling" to guns and religion because of what a government does or does not do. It is especially demeaning to people's religious sentiment to say that government is their reason for "clinging" to their religion. And secondly, Obama did not mean to say that people were merely frustrated. He was clearly trying to paint Middle America as racist, gun-nuts that were too stupid to understand what was going on around them.
It is also impossible, Mr. Colmes, not to see that he was singling out a "portion of the population" when he was quite specific in his target. It is also telling that he was speaking before some elite, West Coast liberals, too.
You have quite a dilemma, Mr. Colmes. If Barack really doesn't feel disdain for all those Middle Americans like you say, then he was pandering and lying to those West Coast lefties before whom he was appearing.
So, your only choices by which to assess Mr. Obama's remarks, Mr. Colmes, are two. Number one he really disdains Middle America. Number two, he doesn't and was just lying to the West Coasters. So he either hates a large segment of the country, or he is a panderer and liar.
Neither choice shows your messiah in a very good light, Mr. Colmes.
No wonder you tried to keep your blog a secret. Were I you, I would have too.
Was the Cadaver nodding like a bobblehead?

That’s just too funny...but Alan shouldn’t run around naked like that!
I see that he does have rhythm, though.
There is a third choice by which to assess Obama's remarks, he was laying out his strategy to a select few very rich liberals. Note that Obama first said, "But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when theres not evidence of that in their daily lives."
He was explaining to this elite group of rich liberals that middle-American ignorant whites had frustrations and that, in his mind, they had been turning to cultural solutions but were still "bitter" and thus ripe for the picking. Obama painted these middle-Americans as victims then specifically blamed the "Clinton administration, and the Bush administration".
IMHO - A not too specific disclosure of a strategy to meet the aforementioned "challenge" by painting a segment of the white population as "victims" by labeling them as such, followed by "Obama Hope" and "Obama Change" as persuasion to vote for him.
And the alien's fairly freakish looking, too. ;)
Alan Colmes is a kneepad-wearing Barackophile.
I really think his name should be Alan COLME-OVER.
That is the funniest thing I am going to hear today!
[::does quick count::] Eighteen so far, not including you. ;)
Predictable.
He just got it backwards though. It's religion - i.e., Christ and the Holy Spirit - that clings to the faithful.
"I am with you always even until the end of the world." - Matthew 28:20
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." - Matthew 16:18
If the gates of hell cannot prevail against it, Barack Obama and Alan Colmes won't be able to make it stop clinging.
If they are worried about xenophobia they need look no further than Rev. Wright.
"That's right, Zuzu: every time Alan Colmes flaps his liberal trap, some angel somewhere goes on a tri-state killing spree." ;)
As Rush says... We're having more fun than a human being ought too.
We're having just way too much fun out here.
Christmas in "It's a Wonderful Life" as the true positive meaning of religion. Faith, family life, and traditional values in a small town.
> Hey buddy... c’mon out.
> We’re having just way too much fun out here.
I can believe it! One day I promise I will. Had a great time in Green Bay and Appleton. Middle America rocks!
“he was clearly trying to paint middle america as racist, gun nuts who were too stupid to understand what was going on around them.”
it’s really a shame that liberal, democrat, elitist thugs are going to be elected in droves by the “electorate”. it’s going to be an obnoxious time with all those brazen, left-wing punks in office and their media allies gushing with love for them. it’ll truly be a descent into darkness.
Yep... we're to damn busy workin hard and having fun to be bitter about anything.
Now on the guns thing...it may not be xenophobia and bitterness but a question of making someone's day (i.e., self-defense, a constitutional right).
