Dear Mr. Shields,

"Almost 232 years ago, a group of concerned Americans took matters in their own hands and did what they needed to do by declaring that the time had come for a change," Nutter said as he signed the bills in front of a table of confiscated weapons outside the police evidence room in City Hall.

There is so much irony in Nutter’s actions it is hard to know where to begin. I kinda like the fact that Nutter doesn’t even know that the opening shots of the American Revolution (Lexington and Concord) were because the British were trying to confiscate the arms (assault rifles of the day) of the local citizens.

Socialists are going to do what they are going to do (increase the power of government and take away rights and liberties from the people). I just wish they would know at least know a little history so at least they would not look so ignorant as they do it.

Regards,

Come on, we could pool our money together and take Philly to the cleaners. Let’s bankrupt them!

A couple other interpreations and neither make Nutter look good.

1: Philly’s crime problem is black on black, so this a tantamount to “redling” laws against the black community. Like an antibellum Democrat this ghostrider tactic is targeted at blacks.

2: This gesture is no more than a strawman to divert attention from his lack of courage. Unwilling to take “direct action” to address the crime culture, he signs off on these soon to be overruled laws. He then will claim he tried to solve the problem but the courts overruled him as an excuse for failure.

This idiot Nutter has to be one of the stupidiest mayors ever. I wished I had a lot of money and lived in Filthadelphia. I would truly enjoy breaking one of these laws and being hauled into court. I would have the best argument going. If the mayor is allowed to break the states laws to create this law. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to break his law?

They know what's coming in Heller, and this is their juvenile middle-finger to America.

“Mayor Nutter likened himself and City Council members yesterday to the band of rebels ...”

Are they actually declaring themselves to be in rebellion? Perhaps a declaration of Martial Law and use of the Pennsylvania National Guard are in order.

Philadelphia's Mayor and City Council don't get it. The state's pre-emption law is on the books to keep localities from endangering gun owners' constitutional rights. How dare they claim to be patriots while eviscerating the Second Amendment. Rest assured, this assault upon Philadelphia's gun owners will not be allowed to stand!
