What are the other options? Allow the attacks to continue? Have the UN suffocate Iran with resolutions? Surrender Iraq to Iran? Have Nobama and Hitlery wet their pants? Ask Olbermann, Matthews, Rather, etc. what we should do?

I just watched the Hellfire strike on insurgent scum in Sadr City, on CNN here.

The black, weird, whiny guy (forget his name) was all atwitter; after it was done he said "Wow, give me a minute here Barbara" as if he were overwhelmed by the image.

I raised my lemonade in salute!

I would not say he’s laying the predicate for a war with Iran. He’s just telling the facts.

Contrary to Buchanan’s way of thinking, this kind of talk is useful if for no other reason than to keep the Iranian’s guessing as to what we’ll do next.

Bush’s stock would go up with me if that were to occur. Yes, I am a neocon and no I don’t like war but seriously, something needs to be done here. My biggest problem with the Iraq war is the rules of engagement and the hand tying of our troops. Then them fight and win with over whelming force.

Those who appease are actually feeding and emboldening the enemy and threat, Iran.

The problem Iran will not go away. Talking will not fix it. The issue has been ongoing since the Ayatollah assumed power. Their actions speak for themselves: Hostages, Lebanon, mining the Gulf, creating Hezbollah, fighting us in Iraq, the war with Israel fought through proxy, assassinations of dissidents in the West.......... The Iranian Islamic revolution and what that means is well spelled out. It has been for years; it's not a secret nor is it some loose interpretation by a few within Iran or a conspiring radical interpretation of what the means by those in the West. The regime in Iran is the enemy, it is that simple. They have declared themselves the enemy of the West, Christians, and the US whom they see as the leader of the pact.

All the answers we hear in the media and by those like Obama are no answers at all. They are selling us feel good nonsense, which is so elementally flawed and simplistic that it's an insult to the rational mind. Obama tells us “He's going to sit down and talk with Iran.” Right- He'll have as much success as the Germans and others who have talked to them. They too went there with the INTENT to be lied too and be appeased, and still they left empty handed. At least those appeasers don't pretend to have the answers anymore, they have just become quiet, sitting on the sideline.

What will waiting bring us? More attacks in Iraq, more support of radical groups fighting Israel. If we wait long enough we'll even have the opportunity to wake up one day with a nuclear Iran, what a great prospect! When people keep doing the same thing over and over but expect different outcomes, some would say they are nuts.

No, it is not Iran that wants a war with the United States. It is the United States that has reasons to want a short, sharp war with Iran.

Not accurate. Iran is already at war with the United States, through its various proxies and agents. What it doesn't want is to get busted for it. It doesn't want its war, which really began in 1979, to get taken by us to the next level before Iran is ready.

I suppose Pat is trying to buy time for Iran. For whatever reason.

What makes me ill is the way that crazed nutjob, the President of Iran, was welcomed by the government of Iraq, like he was a bosom buddy. Makes you remember that all those crazed Muslims are, at the end of the day, crazed Muslims. We can’t trust any of them. Don’t rely on this war bringing us a trusted ally in Iraq.

I think Pat’s only problem is he writes in a manner that is too intellectual for the common folk. I think too many neo-cons spend too much time looking at these issues as singular events or problems. They are failing to grasp the bigger picture. I don’t think people are understanding the enormity of the problem and just what it would take to actually solve the problem at hand. It’s much bigger than the dork in Tehran.

This column is a good example of why I never pay any attention to anything that comes from Pat Buchanan. He is a perfect idiot, despite all pretence to the contrary.

The column does not even give the slightest attention to the significance of what Iran has been doing to us for years or how Iranian terrorists ARE killing many Americans.

No, all that Pat cares about is bashing “neo-cons” and he cannot even rationally discuss pros and cons and different approaches to dealing with the Iranian terrorist menace.

The US against the world. First Afghanistan, then Iraq, now Iran, then...?

Didn't Bush say he was against nation-building? That's what this amounts to, in trying to take on the whole world. A better plan would be to deport all the Muslims in OUR country, seal the borders, and live our lives. Why do we have to go over THERE? We're almost bankrupt as it is, AND we're on the verge of a recession/depression (created by our greedy banking institutions). Where is the money for yet ANOTHER war supposed to come from??? If some other country wants to try and take on the enemy, on enemy lands, let them. Why does it have to be US?

Ah, only had to read two words to see the Buchanan hallmark.

Thanks, Pat, for the early warning. Saved me a lot of effort reading your crap.

The following day, Petraeus told the House Armed Services Committee, "Unchecked, the 'special groups' pose the greatest long-term threat to the viability of a democratic Iraq."

No wonder Bush likes Petraeus. Petraeus is right in line with Bush's nation-building. NEWSFLASH: Iraq and Iran, and any other Muslim country you can name, are NEVER going to be democratic! We can't make the whole world conform with our sense of democracy. It's just not going to happen.
