EXERCISE AND CONFIDENCE BUILDER

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.

Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks.

Then try 50-lb. potato sacks. Then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb. potato sack in each hand, and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level.)

Once you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack

I’ll have Number One Son run the power mower over the back lawn. SLOWLY.
I’ll stoke up a charcoal BBQ and invite some friends over in their SUV’s.
I’ll hang several strings of white lights around the yard to make it festive.
I’ll stop in at the meat market and pick up some really good strip steaks, and if I can score some salmon, I’ll wrap that in foil and slow cook it until it just falls off the bones.
If I can’t get that stuff locally, I’ll order it and have it shipped in by truck. This might be the perfect excuse to buy from Aaron Brothers.
After dinner, we’ll roast marshmallows and make s’mores.
After that I’ll toss some wood in the firepit, and we’ll have a campfire.
For those that’d rather be indoors, I’ll run some movies with the computer piped into the TV and stereo system for better theatrical effect.
And we’ll keep the doors wide open so us parental units outdoors can keep an ear on the indoor activities.
Of course, we’ll have all the lights in the house blazing, except where the movies are showing — gotta have that darkened theater atmosphere, but we’ll keep the A/C cranked down so the drinks stay cold.

And, when it’s all over, I’ll dump everything in the regular trash.

That’s Yosemite Sam swearing in printed form.

That’s just too exhausting. I probably won’t even drive the Big Van (which hit 100,000 miles as we were driving back from Myrtle Beach) because we usually don’t go anywhere on Fridays.

Now *that’s* Global Warming! My beeber still says 90. I’ve got the ac on at 78. Since the oven is on (cooking a frozen lasagna) the ac won’t be able to cool the dining room, where the thermostat is. This means it will be nice and cool upstairs when we’re ready to go to bed with the windows open.

Neighbor across the street is trying to give us a kitten!

Ahhh, but you see, June 12th is a Thursday.

In addition to the carbon-belching festivities, I’ll be commuting over 100 miles, if I go to work that day. And I might drive even farther if I go fishing, in which case I’d be taking the 15mpg van instead of the 25mpg sedan.

I didn’t know whether or not you would ‘hear’ the voice as you were reading it. Some folks can do that, but others can’t, and I don’t like to assume.

They’re in special, multi-piece, glazed ceramic pots. Der Prinz grows them, and you know how guys are about Gear - they can’t just put a plant in a pot! Anoreth has one in her room that’s holding its own, but it’s not covered with flowers like his.

I just spotted Shannon on top of the lizard cage, but she jumped down when she saw me looking! DP and Tom have gone to get the snake from her guest home. They’d have kept her until tomorrow, but he really wants to see her!

On Thursday afternoon, Tom met a lady on the beach with a parrot, and the parrot was crazy about him. It sat on his shoulder for most of an hour, nibbling at his shirt and ears and saying, “Hello!” over and over. The owner said she’d never seen the parrot take to someone like that.

Right ... Thursday. I’ll go to Weight Watchers, then, but not in the van.

We spent almost every weekend of our childhood in the local theater, sucking up cartoons, shorts and a movie. In the summer, we got popscicles (licorice *shudder* was her favorite) and in the winter, we got popcorn. It was a pretty good deal for .25 cents. Movie and treats...

The only bad thing was the long walk home. We only noticed it was uphill in the winter...

Ooooo! That's a toughie. I'd have a hard time saying, "No," unless I kept in mind the logistical contortions required to keep pets maintained whenever we go away for more than a day. I find that I'm never quite able to completely relax, because I periodically wonder what pet-created disaster may await my return.
