So he’s a real rink rat, eh? (I guess it beats living in your parents’ basement ;)

Watching Game #2 now, first intermission with Detroit up 1-0. Ellis is playing well, but that “cagey” vet Hasek has made some incredible stops to keep the Preds off the board so far.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Caps/Flyers game last night: great end-to-end action, comebacks, and oh yeah, that #8 for Washington continues to amaze. And it was also great to see Pittsburgh win it at the end after blowing the +3 lead — we’re not all that fond of Ottawa around here...

the caps game was exciting and so is the Preds. i hope that the Preds can pull it out like Washington did! i went outside to sweep the deck and when i came back in xsboy told me there had been three goals scored. literally no more than the 10 min i was out there!

No, Corning, Inc. We sold them a machine to polish the dies they use to make the substrate for their catalytic convertors. Been at least ten years since I went there.

Did you see they called back one of our goals? It’s the third time this has happened to us this season. Our coach and GM are fuming to the press about the officiating and they never complain but they have had it. The lax game was not pretty either but the JV played better than the varsity against the prissy boys boarding school.

oh i told xsboy you would be going nuts over that!! ROR! i came in after it had happened, and he said they called back a Preds goal, there wasn’t even a review of it by the officials. i said well does the coach have to contest it to get a review or what? he thought it looked like it was in. then later they showed that it pretty clearly had been in, from the vantage point of above.

That was EXTREMELY close! Supposedly, the Hockey gods in Toronto review all such plays, esp. during the playoffs and did this one as well — doesn’t mean they were right, though...

(I guess when Nashville can claim the title of “Hockeytown”, then they’ll get the benefit of the doubt. ;)

Didn’t see the play in question. Just wanted to note that “Hockeytown” is BS, like the Cowboys with their “America’s Team” nonsense.

Pittsburgh gets higher local TV ratings for hockey than Detroit does.

Aha, my husband used to work there and we have tons of family that still do. In fact, his cousin was a senior vice president there. My hometown is Corning.

I think the NHL should take a cue from the NFL and give the coaches a red flag to toss in for immediate reviews. The system works for football and it would work for hockey too.

Looks like this tree is far from exanimate:

Caps can’t blame anything on the refs for their loss.

Are you sure? It seemed like the Caps had 5 guys skating and the Flyers had 7 or 8 on the ice.

i think the Caps were out-goalied. amazing too, that the Flyers goalie’s wife is going to have a C=section tomorrow. they put it off to fit in with the playoff schedule.

i took a break from hockey this weekend to watch the first season of the Tudors, with which i am totally obsessed now. i am actually motivated to look for it on Showtime at 9 pm. I am assured we HAVE showtime on our cable system, but i have to ascertain what # it is, bc i have never watched it! you know how i never know what time or channel that tv series are on, since i eschew them : ) it has been so long since i watched a showtime movie, was shocked at the explicit sex scenes! amazing what they put on the TEEvee, when you don’t have it on fox news! ; )

Conspiracy theories are running rampant that the officiating is fixed to get certain teams to stay in the race. It wouldn’t be unheard of and from the games we watched today, I wouldn’t be surprised. Sorry about the Caps. :(. Wish us luck against the you-know-whats tomorrow night. It’s an early game, for no reason but to mess with everyone’s workday.
