That's OK folks, let's just continue to give our technologies to the Chicoms. They are our friends.

Worst part is, for some of what they want to do they can take advantage of millions of internet connected American computers unprotected by their ignorant owners.

Nah - let's invite them to SG-C. Earth has more dangerous enemies beyond this planet.

China scares me.

Their influence in US politics and economics is at this point surreal, and the average American doesn't even realize it. They have major influence on the hill through lobbying, contributions and other efforts. They own T-bills in large quantities. The regime has allowed China to become the first worlds sweat shop, and in the process US industry has become in broad sectors largely “dependent” on China for production. The Chinese government pays for schooling in Chinese in US schools in part, this includes textbooks and other materials that of course have a very favorable spin to things. Check it up, in US schools you have the Chinese government subsidiesing the education of Chinese language programs and this includes the learning materials such as books etc.

When Matel was burned for lead paint in toys, Matel more or less took the brunt of the blame and they were told by the Chinese that if they pass the buck, they will be banned from production anywhere in China. Matel gave specifications of what they wanted and lead paint wasn't part of the picture. It's scary to think how much influence they already have. BTW, what do you hear reference cracking down after 63 Americans die from tainted blood thinners? Not a word from the Hill. Is that because they are so pragmatic and level handed? Or is it because half of them have Chinese money in their campaign purse?

What irks the hell out of me is how long it has taken for this total no-brainer of a move to occur.

We should have started a cyber-space defense corps years ago, when it became obvious how important the internet was becoming and how vulnerable we were to hostile hack attacks.

China is way ahead of us on this.

I am puzzled by their behavior.

Why would they want to screw up their best market, if the lights go out nobody is going to be shopping at WallMart. If our economy tanks they are going to be left holding a bunch of worthless paper IOUs.

Someone on the Minot thread mentioned China may have hacked the inventory systems that resulted in those nukes being mis-managed.
