This bias is really horrible. Three big, mostly black dogs have been the light of my life for the last thirty years. Two, one half black Lab and half Irish Setter and the other, a pure bred black Lab, are now deceased. The present one, who was supposed to be half black Lab and half Great Dane, but turned out to be half black Lab and half Pit Bull, is wonderful, super friendly, energetic, bumpy, funny, self-confident dog. BIG SLOBBERY, MOIST, SILLY BLACK DOGS ARE THE GREATEST.

Irish Wolfhounds eat big, black dogs. Yet whenever I used to take my 175 pound Wolfhound for a walk all the little kids would come running to play with him. He just looked really friendly and, for the most part, he was. But when a couple Dobermans from down the street came after him at the park one day he made short, quick work of them. What was sickening was that their owner "sicced" them on my dog just for the hell of it and then bitched because Muggs killed them in less time that it took for me to write this paragraph.

My point being that it is irresponsible dog owners who have ruined the reputations of Rotties and Dobies. The dogs themselves are just fine.

When Aaron Jones walks Gozer, his Rottweiler-hound mix, people cross the street to avoid them. Mothers scoop up their children. A lost motorist once rolled up the windows and drove off after spotting the dog. One woman screamed.

"He's the nicest dog I know," said Jones, 33, of Oakland, Calif. "It's hard to understand all the fear."

I think Mr Jones is confused - it's most likely the neighborhood.

They’re absolute loves. Every dog I’ve had (four of them, three all black or black and white) since I’ve become an adult has been either a Lab or a Lab cross. My most recent super friendly beast is a black Lab/Pit cross.
