Frank Buckles apparently doesn't intend to take the offer any time soon. At 107, he still does 50 sit ups a day and lifts weights three times a week.
(MILWAUKIE, Ore.) - Ken Buckles, Executive Director of Oregon's Remembering America's Heroes, has won a long-fought battle a battle centered around World War One.
For twelve years, Buckles has been recognizing and honoring American Vets through his program at Milwaukie High School where he is also a teacher. But this time it was personal.
Ken Buckles is related to Frank Buckles, America's last living WWI Veteran.

So let me get this straight - - Frank Buckles did not rate Arlington, but John F'n Kerry does? Good deal. At least we'll have a place to p*ss!
Here's what I found out; bear in mind that only about 10% of all vets chose to go there, most stay in their home towns. Also, Congress can make any changes it wants to, assuming it can herd the cats effectively.
To be buried in Arlington Cemetery a person must have one of these qualifications: they must have died in a war, have been an honorable discharged winner of the air force cross, or the distinguished service cross,or the distinguished service medal. If you have the medal of honor, navy cross, purple heart, or a silver star you can be buried in the cemetery. A person could also be buried in Arlington if they are a certain disabled veteran or a member of armed forces who served long enough to be officially retired. Anyone who was in a federal office or in a cabinet level position or anyone who was in the Supreme Court can also be buried here.

Besides having a purple heart, John Kerry is qualified as being a Senator. I believe being a Senator gives you some qualifications at Arlington IIRC.
