The way Olga Franco tells it, she was a passenger the afternoon of Feb. 19, heading toward work in Cottonwood and arguing with her boyfriend, who was behind the wheel, when she saw the school bus.
She yelled at him to be careful, but the van's brakes weren't working well, she said, and they went through the intersection and into the bus.
Franco is now charged with criminal vehicular homicide in the deaths of four schoolchildren who were on the bus and has become a flashpoint in the debate on undocumented immigrants.
Speaking publicly Tuesday for the first time, Franco, 24, cried off and on throughout a 90-minute interview in a Lyon County jail meeting room. She spoke softly and looked down at the table often, but she remained adamant about her innocence.
Her boyfriend, Francisco, was driving, she said, and he ran off because he didn't want to be deported to Mexico. Before leaving, he threatened her, she said, saying if she told anyone her life would be at risk. Her attorney declined to let her speak about what specifically happened right after the crash.

The latest.....
The word that the lying POS marxist —— forgot in the story was “ILLEGAL”!
Olga and her lawyer appear to have forgotten about the eyewitnesses to this tragedy......
How many? What did they say?
Choo goan down maing!
There were more than one witnesses, including the bus driver. They haven’t been quoted in the media since shortly after the accident. Smart move by the prosecution. There was nothing in the early reporting that would support her story.
Click on the keyword “alianissmorales” in this thread for a ton of background.
One hopes he is not Francisco Franco.
Franco was in the driver’s seat “and had to be extricated from the vehicle.”
That alone says she is a lieing pos.
Notice how this story has just dropped off of the radar screen. School bus crashes usually are major news stories, almost like a plane crash. This one, with multiple fatalities, would normally be in the paper every day for months, but I think because an illegal is involved, the MSM is ignoring it.
Yeah, I caught that right away, too....
However, I think the court and law enforcement officials who failed to turn her into ICE when she had a previous accident about a year before should also get reprimanded. Those poor kids would be alive today if they had done their job and she had been deported back to Guatemala
Well, it was very well covered in the aftermath, but we’re just waiting for the trial date.
The Star Tribune has committed a collosal blunder, here. By doing this exclusive interview and running the story, they have refueled public outrage over this tragedy and the locals are calling BS.
This was their lead (web) story early this morning. I had to do an extensive search to find it in order to post it this evening.
They screwed the pooch and they KNOW it.......
This young lady's lawyer has no choice but to use the 'it wasn't me it was the other guy' defense. Otherwise, for the deaths of those four beautiful young children she probably wont see the light of day again until she is 50.
However her lawyer needs to be reminded that..
1) as others said there were witnesses she was the driver AND
2) Her own statement after the accident where she said she stopped at the stop sign, then when she started to go, she said the bus hit her. Nothing about her boyfriend.
Ahhh, the perp becomes a victim. This is how they do it in the US. Doesn’t matter that SHE was the only driver. Doesn’t matter that SHE was found in the driver’s seat. Doesn’t matter that FOUR CHILDREN were killed. All that matters is that she has one sad story.
Evidently IF you have a sad story, all sins are forgiven.
I hope her lawyer roasts.
she'd be more believable if she stated he said he'd "kill her"
No, she certainly wasn’t very well coached......
