Wall of silence broken at state's Muslim public school (Minnesota)
Minneapolis Star/Tribune ^ | 4/9/08 | KATHERINE KERSTEN

Posted on 04/09/2008 10:47:12 AM PDT by xtinct

Recently, I wrote about Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TIZA), a K-8 charter school in Inver Grove Heights. Charter schools are public schools and by law must not endorse or promote religion.

Evidence suggests, however, that TIZA is an Islamic school, funded by Minnesota taxpayers.

TIZA has many characteristics that suggest a religious school. It shares the headquarters building of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, whose mission is "establishing Islam in Minnesota." The building also houses a mosque. TIZA's executive director, Asad Zaman, is a Muslim imam, or religious leader, and its sponsor is an organization called Islamic Relief.

Students pray daily, the cafeteria serves halal food - permissible under Islamic law -- and "Islamic Studies" is offered at the end of the school day.

Zaman maintains that TIZA is not a religious school. He declined, however, to allow me to visit the school to see for myself, "due to the hectic schedule for statewide testing." But after I e-mailed him that the Minnesota Department of Education had told me that testing would not begin for several weeks, Zaman did not respond -- even to urgent calls and e-mails seeking comment before my first column on TIZA.

Where's the ACLU on this separation of church and state?

And, American citizens taxes are being used to fund this school so there should be NO religious affiliation or religion taught at this charter school.

If the Muslims get away with this then I suggest that Christians introduce the morning prayer back into the public schools.... And, the Department of Education needs to pony up taxes to send to ALL Catholic, Christian, and Jewish schools the same amount of funding retroactive to the funding afforded this Muslim charter school.

Post of the day, in my opinion. Dead right.

This is going to be the wedge issue on this whole topic. Either tell the bombthrowers they have to privately fund the school, or start shelling out for Catholic and Christian schools.

sshhhh - you’re not supposed to tell anybody about the double standard. Taxpayers are too busy working to care about such things.

“TIZA is now being held up as a national model for a new kind of charter school. If it passes legal muster, Minnesota taxpayers may soon find themselves footing the bill for a separate system of education for Muslims.”

The ACLU?!

FEH!!

They’re where they have always been - to the left of Howeird Dean, plotting the Socialist revolutionary takeover of the USA, the scrapping/total “revision” of the US Constitution, and the compulsory expatriation/”re-education” of all unpacifiable Christians in America.

Not to be sarcastic, but have you actually ever read their founders’ statements? The initial “mission statements” of the {R.acketeering & I.nfluenced by C.orrupt} Organisation?

It has truly been their stated goal from their inception to convert the US to a Socialistic form of government by all means necessary - some technically legal, others - not so much.

I think it would be interesting, and revealing to get an unabridged original copy of the ACLU charter, and other related documents showing in unabashed language just how virulently anti-American the group has ALWAYS been.

On the other side of the ledger - do we really expect anything different from the dirty mozzies than abuse and misuse of our system, and every avenue it affords in which they might exploit taxpayer-funded resources?

It is the exact template they are utilizing on a widespread and systematic basis to drain resources and tear down government and culture in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK...

They emigrate into a Western {European} country, and immediately enroll themselves into as many different entitlement programs as are available and accessible.

The mohammadan men insist, in the Netherlands for example, that they be allowed to bring not only their wife and children, but also their second wife and children. Ad infinitum, ad nauseum. I have been there and seen it for myself, and I am not kidding in the least.

It could prove our ruin as a country if we allow something even this simple to pass unchallenged.

The mohammadans and their willing accomplices on the left relish using case law to establish a precedent, and they would just love to litigate and win one like this, only to turn around and cite it as an example for other judges in other courtrooms around the country to take under advisement.

A.A.C.

fight them - fight them all the way!

ACLU = It has truly been their stated goal from their inception to convert the US to a Socialistic form of government by all means necessary - some technically legal, others - not so much.

Time for the Catholics, Chritians, and Jews to rise up and fight for what's theirs --> money for the children attending their schools.

Because they're sandwiched in between two competing groups... ACLU wants to take over and so does Islam...

Thinking... combine efforts for the BIGGEST class action lawsuit this country's ever seen.

I strongly agree.

Michael Savage {aka Dr. Michael Weiner} well-known radio talk-show host and personality has long advocated trying to bring down the ACLU in part by class action lawsuits, and in part by invetigating their organization and charging them under the Federal RICO statutes - hence my own RICO reference in my prior posting.

If devout Christians and practicing Jews (and those who support and defend their rights to exist and freely worship) would take time off from attacking our own to unite our resources and efforts against common enemies like these, then the air would truly become clear and bright for a later-airing of differences in the marketplace of ideas.
