I suppose it is as easy to pretend you are not a Muslim as it is to pretend you are a Christian. Would depend on what your mission is and best way to succeed in that mission.

The Sunnis don't consider the Shi'ites to be real Muslims. The Wahabbis don't consider the Sunnis to be real Muslims. Pretty much every sect of Islam considers every other sect to not be "real Muslims". That's why they fight with each other endlessly.

True. Sunnis and Shiites would both consider “black muslims” to be damned heretics suitable for beheading, although they might qualify as “people of the book.” Funny nobody asks Farrakhan if he is Sunni or Shiite. He's neither. He's not a muslim at all. “Black Muslims” believe that the idea of a “mystery god” in heaven is a lie invented by white people, and that the only real god is black people.

I'll see if I can find it in my extensive O'bama file.

When he took over Trinity United Church of Christ in 1972, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. was a maverick pastor with a wardrobe of dashikis and a militant message.

He graduated from Howard University and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English with a focus on African spirituals. At the University of Chicago Divinity School, he earned another masters degree in the history of religions with a focus on Islam.

Thanks. Not exactly what I’d consider a unbiased source. I tried to find a legitimate biography of Wright that mentioned his education, but I didn’t find anything.
