NASA could use an astronaut that size. Even the most cramped space cabin seems like a stateroom on a cruise ship when one is under two feet tall, plus she’d use less oxygen and water.

Something simply doesn’t seem right about this. She only weighs 11 lbs. now, but they didn’t know she was different until she was 5 years old? I’m suspicious about this.

Stop and think about how difficult it would be for someone that small to function. She can’t drive. She can’t open doors. She probably can’t even walk up stairs for crissakes. Can’t reach lightswitches. Can’t use a toilet. Can’t reach faucets. Dogs and maybe even cats are potentially deadly. A crowd of people could be deadly. Can’t go grocery shopping.
I wonder if that was an error and it was supposed to be 5 months. They said earlier in the article that it was shortly after her birth.

When I read it I got the idea that they knew something was wrong ‘some time after her birth’ but didn’t know WHAT the disorder was until she was 5yrs old. Perhaps meaning the name of the ‘condition’??

Unlike so many who are fit and healthy she is happy and has no regrets or complaints!
She is adorable. :-) I hope only her height is affected and that she’s healthy and strong otherwise.
I knew a woman not much bigger than this girl, but she couldn’t even sit up. She was tutored at home and graduated high school, and she died in her late thirties. Whenever things are going wrong and I start to feel sorry for myself, I remind myself of her and her happy demeanor, in spite of everything. And, whenever I think my children are getting the bad breaks, I remember how strong her mother was.
Also, I came across a child not much bigger than this girl once, but she had to walk with crutches. I remember her mother chasing some of the little girls away from her. She was yelling at them not to pick her up because she’s not a baby.
