Seriously,

this can't happen unless McCain was trying to clone - EXACTLY, to the last microbe - the Dole campaign of 1996. I can't imagine he's seriously looking at a moderate for Veep.

What are the statistics on abortion among blacks?

I've read that the black population is actually less than it used to be, thanks in part to abortion. Can anyone verify this?

Yes, it’s what I said on the other thread. I used to admire Condi as Secretary of State, before she went over to the dark side and started playing footsie with the Palestinian terrorists and the Kosovo terrorists.

But I never would have accepted her as a V.P. candidate, precisely because she is pro abortion.

She says she is only mildly pro-abortion. What on earth does that mean? That she’d only cut the babies in half, instead of quarters?

if mccain runs on iraq,

he’ll lose because democrats and republicans are tired

of the war.

meanwhile, what can we expect from our leftist media and

their buddies in iraq?

more war.

so, i don’t think mccain can win.

She’s pro-choice. That’s enough to no bill her for me.

It has been common knowledge here on FR that Condi is pro-abortion for several years. If one were truly for abortion rights and truly conservative, the only option would be to be honest about the matter and admit that the Federal gub’mint has NO authority in this matter - it is clearly a state’s issue. Of course, she’s not being honest and clearly does not espouse the only sound Constitutional position. She’ll do fine a running mate for the Manchurian candidate.

Just think, Condi can do for US citizens what she did for the Israeli citizens.

McCain is in my opinion a disaster for president. I’ve said many times that I would not cast a vote for him.

If I change my mind, there is only one issue that would move me to do what I said I’d never do, and thats the Iraq and Afghan wars. Because, as I have also said several times, the war is my bottom line. If any Dem gave any hint that they had a clue, and wouldn’t abandon everything we’ve achieved to be swept away by the baddies, I would be happy to sit this one out.

But they haven’t a clue, and we can’t afford anyone in the White House who won’t take the war seriously, who would even think about walking away. I don’t think either Dem will do what they’ve promised, they won’t really have a choice realistically speaking, but the mere fact that they would consider it and defend it means we can’t risk putting them in the White House.

I like Rice a lot better than I do McCain. I like just about anyone you can think of better than I do McCain. But if I am forced to vote for him in order to preserve what we’ve accomplished in Iraq, and if his VP can also be trusted in Iraq and Afghanistan, then it won’t matter if I disagree on other issues. The war is the bottom line. If it wasn’t, I’d be happy to let McCain go down to defeat.

Her position on abortion is exactly the same as the current twice-elected sitting President. They both favor abortion in the case of rape, incest, and medical necessity.

Well, I guess I’m you know, in a way sort of opposed to government involvement in things like keeping people from blowing your head off on the street or in the subway or your living room. I mean, isn’t that really between a person and his own professional hit-man or -woman? Who are we to say what is or isn’t right? I think if we just you know, got rid of all the laws, the crime rate would drop to near zero in no time.

The only abortion issue that really matters in the short-term is whether or not she'd appoint strict constructionist judges or not. Until Roe gets overturned, her positions are about as pro-life as the courts will allow, anyway.

I can't imagine he's seriously looking at a moderate for Veep.

Moderate is a euphemistic term for socialist. He would accept that type of VP otherwise he would jeopardize his reputation by appearing to be moving to the right.

And this shouldn’t cause any concern for the Bash-McCain-All-Day-Every-Thread crowd because he’s solidly pro-life... the abortion issue isn’t important to them, apparently.

I’d rather see him choose a bone-deep social conservative as a VP but I think Condi would be a decent pick.

But you know that I'm a deeply religious person

Well I'm sure pro-abort misnamed Rev. Wright feels he's deeply religious, too. But you can be deeply religiously wrong also. Get deeper into the Scriptures pls Ms Rice.

in effect, kind of Libertarian on this issue, and meaning by that that I have been concerned about a government role in this issue. I'm a strong proponent of parental choice, of parental notification. I'm a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be. I've called myself at times mildly pro-choice.
