The California congressman who called the Sept. 11 attacks "simply" a plane crash ran for cover Wednesday under a barrage of ridicule from fellow Republicans, first responders and victims' families.
San Diego GOP Rep. Darrell Issa was under siege for suggesting the federal government had already done enough to help New York cope with "a fire" that "simply was an aircraft" hitting the World Trade Center.
"That is a pretty distorted view of things," said Frank Fraone, a Menlo Park, Calif., fire chief who led a 67-man crew at Ground Zero. "Whether they're a couple of planes or a couple of missiles, they still did the same damage."
"New York was attacked by Al Qaeda. It doesn't have to be attacked by Congress," added Long Island Rep. Pete King, a Republican.

Issa is a political jackbooted thug. Good riddance.

I would think more like its financial importance to the entire world.
in spite of what people think,
Issa is 100% right;
9/11 was the first time in U.S. history where the federal government offered and people expected it to offer, indemnity to civilians and localities for looses incurred in war, losses not inflicted by our own government’s actions.
some “aid” yea, surely as a federal charitable contribution.
but the entitlement mentality that IT IS primarily A FEDERAL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY? NO
Ironically, Issa was a major player in the Gray Dufus recall of 2003. That's his only redeeming legacy: replacing a liberal Gov. with a... Schwarzenkennedy...er, never mind!
Bingo.
Dude that like saying that earthquakes don't kill people, its that falling building that do.
Exacty? How about "exactLy".
1. All terrorists must die! If Israel had wiped out the PLO when they had the chance, the rest of the outcast Arabs land grabbers would have gone back to their countries of origin instead of pretending that there is such a thing as palestinians.
2. The US military kills people and breaks things. The US government rebuilds and corrects the form of government that caused the terrorists in the first place. Reference The Marshall Plan as an example.
3. Never agree with someone who claims that 9-11 was a couple of plane crashes. Very stupid!
First off spelling mistakes happen on a forum that doesn’t allow edits, so sue me.
Your first point has nothing to do with any point on this particular thread, rebuilding buildings here at home has nothing to do with whether we go out and kill terrorists, it simply doesnt no matter how you want to paint it.
Your second point once again misses the point. The WTC didn’t cause terrorism or the ideology that raised terrorism, rebuilding them is a good idea which I don’t disagree with. I disagree with though with the tens of billions that have been wasted on other things. A so called ‘conservative’ will never agree with throwing money around willy nilly or being held a financial hostage to the whims of democrats in New York.
Like I said earlier he brought up a good point but the way he said it was stupid. I chose to pick up on the good point and ignore his retarded statement. It certainly doesnt make his good point less valid because he made one stupid argument.
Sounds like he’s criticizing the victim mentality that serves as an excuse for greed. The fact that it involves the 911 event is a separate issue, but attention-whore politicians looking for microphones and cameras are using that angle.
It was an attack on the USA not just NYC , get real !
The fact that the guy also visited Syria and met with Assad at the same time Pelosi did suggests that his comments regarding 9/11 are not just simple expressions of conservative fiscal policy.
Agreed, and I didn’t know that- I don’t know who this Issa guy is at all.
The comments in and of themselves were my basis for judgment. Thanks for the info!
