On March 26, 2008, surgeons at UC San Diego Medical Center removed an inflamed appendix through a patient's vagina, a first in the United States. Following the 50-minute procedure, the patient, Diana Schlamadinger, reported only minor discomfort. Removal of diseased organs through the body's natural openings offers patients a rapid recovery, minimal pain, and no scarring. Key to these surgical clinical trials is collaboration with medical device companies to develop new minimally-invasive tools...

I’ll bet it’s hard on the Schlamadinger though.

This is nothing new - I had my virginity removed through a vagina.

That’s sure not how they took my appendix out! Then again, I don’t have a vagina. I ended up with a five-inch scar that looks like a hockey stick.

*sheesh*
Mine was done in 1984 in Phoenix, AZ...what’s the big deal? As long as “they are IN THERE” they may as well take care of all that ails ya.

Vaginas are a God given blessing and wonder not to be tinkered with by pedestrian organ removal.
in my modest opinion

Being a male, I really don’t want them thinking up some new way to get mine out.

Just wait until Hillary takes control and shuts down all this wasteful medical advancement. A saw and a pair of pliers was good enough for your great grandmother and it should be good enough for you.

I didn’t think this sort of procedure was anything new as they’ve been doing hysterectomies like this for a while.

Mine was removed 7 years ago and nothing left but a 1/4” scar. Of course listening to the two gals talking to themselves while I was in recovery for an hour was fun. (It was an emergency removal)

My Mother had gall bladder surgery maybe 50 years ago. It was major surgery and it took her a long time to recover. I had the same a couple of years ago and they did it as an outpatient and let me go home a couple of hours after the surgery.
Now I wasn't feeling like playing a set of tennis but really nothing compared to how they used to do it. They really are improving some types of surgery.

Since it’s California, I have to ask: Was the patient a man or a woman?
