Parent's objection led to the motto being painted over at a Dallas-area elementary ---
THE COLONY A Dallas-area school will put "In God We Trust" back on a gymnasium wall after the U.S. motto was painted over when one parent objected.
The motto had been on a wall at B.B. Owen Elementary School in The Colony.
District spokesman Dean Tackett said a parent complained about displaying the word "God" in school, so the phrase was painted over.
But Tackett said on Tuesday, in response to complaints from other parents about the hasty removal, "In God We Trust" will be re-painted on the wall.
KTVT-TV reports some parents wrote the words "In God We Trust" on their children's T-shirts and backpacks, then sent their students to school.
The Texas Education Code says a public school or an institution of higher education may display the U.S. national motto.
I call dibs on any cash this guy is too offended to keep.
It is amazing that ONE complaint would lead to painting over the word God, but I bet it took many times that complaints to get it back. Spineless school officials or officials just waiting their chance to get rid of the hated God word.
First we kill all the lawyers...
BTTT
The tyranny of the minority strikes again.
So if I complain about this parent can I get them painted over?
I volunteer to do it!
PRAISE GOD!

So know the the wall of the gym says ‘God’ we can all look forward to a sudden outbreak of morality at the school. Right?
AMEN.....finally somebody with some guts to stand up for the ORIGINAL American way!!!
O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their lov'd homes, and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heaven-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust!"
And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!
AMEN and AMEN!!!

One friggin' parent objects, the school district dips agree with parent, so they march out and follow orders. Parents, zillions of them, object to "Heather has Two Mommies" and the rest of the sexualization program for children. Do they get their way on that? Heck no! It would be "discrimination" and "we need to teach tolerance".
I'm glad these school dips had their rear-ends handed to them.
Morality is more akin to returns reaped from consistant, wise investing.
Expect more to come.
Heck, I object to calling government schools "public schools". I demand that your post be painted over...wait a minute, I just realized I posted what you said in italics...OK, now this post should be painted over...and on it goes.
[Ping for the Homeschool lists if you’d like, Metmom & DaveLoneRanger — Some good news for a change about the Public Schools! Hooray!]
Wow... This is a change of pace. It’s rather refreshing. Congrats, to this parent who was heard by his school, and who stood up for what he believed in! The world would be a better place with more parents who took an interest in their childrens’ educations like this.
It seems rare, at least reading the stories I run across here at FR, that a parent is successful in having the board of education, or a school rule in their favor in cases like this — especially if doing so will benefit the conservative cause in one way or another (or it will in their minds at least)...
All religions should be respected in public schools, IMHO, as long as doing so doesn’t harm anyone else. The First Amendment says, “Freedom OF Religion”, not Freedom “FROM” Religion. Words, phrases, and even ideas like this can’t hurt even Atheists - after all, if they don’t believe God exists how can a simple phrase have any power over them by which they are bothered enough to protest?
Good for them. If anyone doesn’t like the motto, they don’t have to read it.
Or they could start their own secular *No God Allowed* private school that prohibits the mention of any kind of deity. It’s a free country, they’re allowed to do that if they don’t like what the majority wants.
It’d be interesting to see what kind of enrollment they get.
I sure wish it fit the list. However, the public school list holders would no doubt like to see it along with wagglebee. I’ve pinged one of them already.
Just thought of a couple more who might be encouraged by this little victory.
