Calm Before The Storm?

War On Terror: Shockingly, the CIA warns that America is wide open to another 9/11-style terrorist attack from the Afghan-Pakistani border. Is this August 2001 all over again?

n a rare public interview, CIA Director Michael Hayden said al-Qaida's central command is training a more cunning generation of terrorists in the badlands of northern Pakistan.

They "look Western," he said, and "wouldn't attract your attention if they were going through the customs line at (Washington) Dulles (International Airport) with you when you're coming back from overseas."

These new recruits, Hayden told NBC's "Meet the Press," "would be able to come into this country without attracting the kind of attention that others might."

In other words, they wouldn't fit the typical Middle Eastern profile, and their non-Arabic surnames wouldn't likely show up in any terror watch list. In fact, they might not even need visas if they enter from Europe.

Forget the image of Mohamed Atta and the other 9/11 hijackers. The next al-Qaida-trained terror cell could feature blue-eyed blonds and even women.

Hayden's warning dovetails with German intelligence. Authorities there reveal that terrorist suspects under surveillance include several Germans who have converted to Islam and recently trained at al-Qaida camps in Pakistan.

At the same time, U.S. officials note al-Qaida's use of women to carry out suicide attacks in Iraq is an alarming new twist. Women are checked less often by security because of Muslim sensitivities.

We will only get serious about this World War after a major U.S. city or two becomes a smoking crater, or a school massacre occurs were our children are slaughtered like spring lambs.

I’m afraid you’re right on. Right after 9/11, all the flags were flying, yellow ribbons on vehicles, there was a good feeling of “Get ‘r Done!” in the air and then my wife said, “I wonder how long it’ll be before the whining, moaning and bitching starts and the flags and ribbons come off the cars this time...”.

She was right on. We’re sojourners of the 60s, she a Navy brat and myself having served in the Navy during those times so we had this gut feeling...

My tag line is for my boy.

Well, if they are recruiting blonde hair, blue eyed terrorists and we are smart, half of them will be CIA agents. It would be interesting to know how smart we are. You would think we would find Obama Bin Laden really fast if we could get our people on the inside.

After we lose a city or a school full of children the call will be for us to give up more of our rights instead of our secular, anti-Christian government admitting we’ve got a global religious war going on.

Why in the world would they come in from Dulles??? Idiot reporters.

For a few grand they can hire a Mex coyote to bring them across the wide open southern border. With oil prices where they are, the arabs aren't lacking financial resources.

If this next generation of Islamics is so western and savvy they won't try to come in legitimately.

We will only get serious about terror when the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government recognize Islam is the root cause of terrorism.

I’ve already stated on another post that I believe Islam is a vicious cult and not a respectable world religion. It has as a part of its tenets the belief in a right to kill others. This is unacceptable as well as being unconstitutional in our nation. It should also be unacceptable in any country where civil rights are upheld.

I’m appalled at how political correctness and the silly concept of cultural relativity have managed to get a stranglehold on our government’s leaders. Talk about stuck on stupid!!

Why is this scenario so familiar? Oh yeah, it's just like Israel.

Hayden only says things that are history.

He knows they're here, he knows what they want to do and the CIA (Constricted Intelligence Anonymous) can't do anything about it.

Luckily, they're stupid and don't understand the complexity of the US culture and economy. They'll hit things they think will immediately make Americans fall on their knees in submission. Instead, we'll absorb and rebuild. It will be bad, but nowhere near catastrophic.

Wait, whoa! If they aren't going to look Middle Eastern or Islamic, does that mean they might have to take off their shoes and submit to the amatuer proctology hour? Maybe the TSA types will actually catch a few (instead of probing grannies in wheelchairs). Or does this mean everyone gets the finger?

Eventually this is going to lead to travel papers and checkpoints all over. Just like the iron curtain countries were in the '60s.

Lovely.

And all those weapons within easy reach, too...

But that would be forbidden by the lace panty guys at State, no doubt.

Cheers!

The US, the CIA suck at infiltrating enemy organizations. We rely on walk-ins.

And if it happens 7 years from now with a RAT in the White House it will be because of Bush. /sarcasm

Islam attacks when we are at our weakest financially and they also attack when new politicians take office. So this next coming quarter would in my mind be a moderate level chance of attack but early spring next year would be a high likelyhood of attack.

If we are hit, I suspect our citizens will expunge Muslims by making their lives very painful even if the government does nothing. I feel comfortable that the nuclear possibility is distant, even dirty bombs. This will not stay so in the next decade.

Let’s say chemicals or a dirty bomb were used and 1000 people died at some form of organized gathering. The population and economy will not falter and fail like 911. I doubt they will attack a school either like in Beslan. Those poor kids there did not deserve to die, but James Woolsey did publically state the Moscow apartment bombing/invasion of Chechyna was a staged FSB job. Children are not really an Islamic focus as a norm either. Killing our kids means they know that our armed population will begin killings of their Muslim movement here in the States.

Eventually, either North Korea, Iran or Pakistan orginating nuke terror will be used on one of our cities. At that point, Mecca and Medina should be vaporized and if any traces come from Russia, an equivalent Russian city(s) should be vaporized.

I used to think that it would take a nuclear or wholesale chemical attack to finally get the attention of most Americans about the Islamofascist threat. Maybe I’m cynical, but at this point I don’t think even that will do the job. Too many people I know are convinced that the United States is the source of evil in the world, or that somehow we have brought the war on ourselves through our actions - by purchsing oil, supporting Israel, voting Republican. I really think that as people see the flash and feel the heat from the oncoming shockwave many will be cursing George Bush or their own country.

Having said that, I think a large-scale attack would lead to social disintegration and chaos. I hate to say that, since I love this country and its culture, but I could see the following scenario following a nuke attack on several American cities:

1. Some parts of the country would simply surrender - Berkeley, the upper West Side of New York, much of New England, or any place with a majority of Democrats or self-described liberals. They’d view surrender as a better option than defense, blaming the attack on our own aggressive use of force in the Bush administration.
2. Some places and populations would experience mass conversions. Given the choice between death and conversion, some will take the easy road. I can see this happening among the African-American community, especially in poorer populations. They’ve been hearing how America is a racist rathole for decades; an attack would deliver proof, and they can finally shuck all pretense at an allegience to the country.
3. Some places would decide to fight back, only to be stopped by federal bureaucrats interested in enforcing hate speech laws, discrimination statutes, and other laws in such as a way as to protect Islam in any form.
4. Other places would decide to fight back and not only take up the battle against Islamofascism, but also take on those inside the country who are preventing them from fighting.

I really, really hope that this is just bad science fiction and that folks wake up to the reality of what we’re dealing with. You’d be amazed at the number of people who are either willfully or certifiably clueless. It’s times like this I fear for my son’s future.
