My lawn is so green already. I've had neighbors ask what I put on the grass to get is so nice this early. Also, some golfers asked about my aerator I was using after the first rain. It is basically 1/4 of this machine.

I'm surprised how green it is and it's still pretty cold out there. We had days of good rain. Everyone else's is still brownish. It's going to be really green when the temps warm up.

That's cool! We need to aerate the lawn. Funny I was just thinking of how to do this. I raked thatch but that isn't good enough. I have to find something to put on the back of the tractor. Definitely a lot smaller though. ;)

I bought an aerator from Home Depot years ago, but it only had the flat blades to cut into the grass and dirt. The one I made is part of an old piece of farm implement we used to use in the fields.

It works especially well when the ground is wet and tears the roots out of the compressed soil. Once you get some additional air into the ground, the grass will grow faster and the water soaks in, rather than run off.
