SCHEMER: Darren Dopp, one of the governor's men who orchestrated the plot against Joe Bruno.
Former Gov. Eliot Spitzer would have faced a grand-jury probe and may have warranted impeachment for repeatedly lying about his involvement in the Dirty Tricks Scandal, an explosive report from the Albany County district attorney concluded yesterday. In a startling revelation, District Attorney David Soares said that had Spitzer not resigned in the call-girl scandal, the DA would have asked a grand jury to consider urging impeachment or other disciplinary action because the then-governor repeatedly claimed in testimony to Soares that he was not directly involved in the plot against state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno. Spitzer's claims contradicted testimony from his communications director, Darren Dopp. "If Dopp's testimony is credited [truthful], then former Gov. Spitzer's answers were not truthful. Accordingly, we intended to present these conflicting accounts to the grand jury," said Soares in the 20-page report.
Soares - noting a grand jury could have condemned Spitzer for "misconduct, nonfeasance or neglect in public office" and recommended his removal from office - claimed that Spitzer's "unforeseeable resignation" on March 12 after revelations that he had patronized a high-priced hooker at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, made any action against him impossible. The long-awaited report from Soares also found that the disgraced ex-governor's counsel, David Nocenti, may have acted illegally when he notarized a sworn statement by Dopp on the scandal. Soares said he decided not to press charges. Dopp may have been guilty of misdemeanor offenses, said Soares, who granted immunity to the former communications director.

But it was only six months ago, Soares was practically nominating Robespierre Spitzer for sainthood - with his report that all but absolved the ex-governor (and his henchmen, too) from significant wrongdoing in that sordid Dirty Tricks affair. Whore-fixated Spitzer was forced out in disgrace, his credibility lower than a snake in the grass. The true story of Spitzer's Dirty Tricks emerges despite Soares' efforts to cover it up. Contrary to DA Soares' assertions.. Spitzer was indeed a chief motivating force which sought to use the State Police to gather information. Soares is another cog in Spitzer's Reign of Terror machine.
so now in addition to all the stuff he isnt charged with - we can add perjury to that
They will let the scumbag skate. Mark my words.
Nice one!
“so now in addition to all the stuff he isnt charged with - we can add perjury to that.
It sounds like you are correct. Of course this would be real perjury committed by a Pyscho Rat, so it doesn’t count. If it was pseudo perjury by Bush cabinet member or aide, the MSM would be all over it.
Dopp should never have gotten a “free pass” - he was Eliot Spitzer’s ‘enforcer’ for at least 15 years..
Perjury is just the tip of the iceberg. First of all, thanks to Fred Dicker for keeping the fires burning on this investigation. If it wasn’t for Fred and Bill Hammond (NYDN) the Spitzeristas would have succeeded, at least until Boss Eliot got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. The socks didn’t help - too much information. It is my belief that this could turn NY over a little, not around to sanity, but at least precipitate some gains by conservatives, but only if they can emerge and start yelling about what really goes on up there by the Hudson.
Hey isn’t New York lucky they now have Patterson? [however Patterson sure doesn’t feel lucky].
This plot against Bruno should be a much bigger scandal than the prostitute thing.
By planting false charges against the leader of the opposition, he was subverting the proper working of government, its an attack on democracy.
bump
Eliot got caught with his "hmmmm" in the HOOKER jar!
Thanks-—glad you liked it.
During Spitler's 1998 AG campaign, he indignantly denied allegations by his GOP opponent, Dennis Vacco (Vacco is a top-notch pro-life conservative), that Spitler's wealthy father had provided millions in loans to his AG campaign. Candidate Spitzer insisted he was using only his own money (family members are limited by law to $110,000 in total contributions) and accused Vacco of "smearing" his father. Not until he'd actually taken office did Spitzer admit that Dennis Vacco had been correct, after all. In fact, it turned out Spitzer, despite earlier denials, had done the exact same thing during his unsuccessful 1994 run for AG.
Once in office, Eliot Steamroller made his name pumping himself as a crusading crime fighter. Ironically, that's exactly what brought him down. BACKSTORY A security analyst was looking at a mountain of bank tips sent to the IRS about suspicious account activity. They can't possibly attend to them all. However, in this case, it seems large sums of money were going out to shell companies (a red flag).
The analyst spied Spitzer's name and thought "no, it can't be"-----and immediately concluded someone was using Spitzers name for fraudulent activities perhaps in political bribes and corruption. That's why they decided to investigate----to protect Spitzer.
Surprise---when analysts traced the money, they found it was going to the call girl operation. Spitzer WAS NOT being targeted in the hooker sting. However, L/E was conducting surveillance on the ring and found they had Spizter on tape, ordering up hookers. That's how he got caught---cause he was high-profile "good" guy who made a name for himself as a "crime-fighter."
Interesting. I’ve suspected all along that the hooker thing was just the tip of iceberg.
I suspect others will fall as well when this whole thing is done
But, but....all he did was use the Clintonista handbook of political hatchetjobs. Is that illegal too? (sarcastic lamp is lit!!)
