Obama Suggests Jesus Christ Not the Only Way to Heaven
Christian Post ^ | March 27 2008 | Jennifer Riley

Posted on 03/27/2008 4:40:22 PM PDT by Berlin_Freeper

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama suggested Wednesday that Jesus Christ is not the only way to heaven during a campaign event in North Carolina.

While answering a question about his Christian faith, Obama said he believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins and through God’s grace and mercy he could have “everlasting life,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

But he also believes Jews and Muslims and non-believers who live moral lives are as much “children of God” as he is, according to The Associated Press.

As an example, he spoke about his late mother who was “not a believer.”

"[S]he was the kindest, most decent, generous person that I have ever known," Obama said, according to the Times. "I'm sure she is in heaven, even though she may not have subscribed to everything that I subscribe to."

Obama’s response amid the recent controversy surrounding his former Chicago pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who made inflammatory remarks about race and America in sermons he delivered many years ago.

The Illinois senator, who has made religion a cornerstone of his campaign, has denounced the comments – which included “God damn America” for its racism – but refuses to distance himself from the pastor, whom he compares to an uncle.

During his response on Wednesday, Obama praised his church, Trinity United Church of Christ, especially its choir, and said it was very warm and welcoming and is like any other church in America in that it exists to praise God.

However, who is to say that the Father might not come to any man?

Colossians 1:2 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Jesus reconciles us to himself by the blood of his cross.

2 Corinthians 5:19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

God was in Jesus, reconciling the world to himself.

So who is Jesus?

“However, who is to say that the Father might not come to any man?”

You can count the number of times that’s happened on one hand.

God made a way for everyone, no matter how old you are, and when or where you live. That is the beauty & the power of the gospel message.

We need a good theological debate like the early FR. It was a scripture war and whoever posted the longest scripture string won. Those of us on dial-up were instantly consigned to ether-purgatory.

If Jesus is the only way to heaven, all those suckers born before his time or never heard of him are toast.

One would think. But God is more wise than we are.

In I Peter 3 the Bible says

(18) For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

(19) in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison,

(20) who once were disobedient, ...

Apparently after His death, Jesus went to the dead and presented them with the same Gospel we all must evaluate. Some believed, most didn't. Seems dead people aren't any better at evaluating Truth than the living.

Human beings alone are responsible for their sins—free will and all that. They bring judgment upon themselves, not God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit. That’s the whole reason God sacrificed *Himself* for us “...that none should perish, no, not one...” :*)

God doesn’t force anyone to believe in Him or Jesus or the Holy Spirit. If we choose not to, then we are responsible for all the consequences. No torturing involved.

Well, that answers that - Barry is not a the born again Christian he claims.

And according to B.O., it won't make any difference in the end.

What would you say about a father who tortures his children?

Adam was created by God, not born of God. God only has one Child, Jesus! The brothers and sisters of Christ are those that are born again and adopted into his family throught the cleansing blood of Jesus.

If God recreated the world PERFECTLY, with no sin, disease, or chance of death, and put anyone and their chosen spouse there with their current nature (personality, opinions, vices, etc.), and they had children, how long would it that world remain perfect?

How do you think we got to our current state? The scenario above is exactly what happened to Adam and whats-her-name.

If God had made Adam where he could not choose to go his own way, we all would simply be automatons, mere robots without free will. God wanted his creation to choose to love him, not be forced to. Thus free will, sin, condemnation, and redemption.

So who is Jesus?

He is the savior, one in being with the Father. But the question is: may God accept someone who has not chosen redemption through Christ?

That God may do any good thing He chooses, is axiomatic.

Excuse me, but what are the consequences? If one of them is Hell, then how exactly is it not torture?

I see that you've already received several responses so I'll be brief. Jesus IS the only way to heaven. Your statement is based upon a faulty assumption. Salvation now is on faith, salvation prior to Jesus' crucifixion was also by faith. The bible does address this point, but as I said, I'll spare you the theology lesson.

Can God make Jesus a liar, or ignorant or..? John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

You would suggest Jesus did not know the Father could provide an alternate route to Himself. But then, you just said "He is the savior, one in being with the Father." I can't reconcile this, can you?

Obama goes to a church that hates white people. What? Did you expect those fools to get the Gospel right?

I went to 16 years of Christian schools before going to a secular graduate school, and I don’t think I even grasped the basic concepts

Judas had 3 years of direct contact and he didn't get it either.

Ain't that the truth?

I think when I found FR, I had a 9,600 baum modem, but it might have been twice that.

You could also win by composing at HTML bomb post that would lock up any future viewer, although I considered that something like Hillary Clinton politics.

Ah, the good old days. Now we actually can discuss things without waiting five minutes to download any responses.

Interesting. I am curious as to what basic concepts your were told you did not get. BTW, have you been 'born from above'?

...but then Obama also believes in abortion, including partial birth abortion.
