In PA, politicians have to know how close you are to Philly or Pittsburgh before you decide where you stand on Gun Control for that particular speech.

Obama voted in favor of legislation prohibiting the use of federal money to confiscate weapons during a disaster. Clinton voted against it. Wow. On both counts.

A 2002 Quinnipiac University poll found that 42 percent of Pennsylvania households have guns, including 54 percent of union households
As resident of the commonwealth of Pa, I'm shocked that gun ownership is this low. My ancedotal evidence indicates that gun ownership is a lot higher per household here than 42%. The NRA regularly holds their annual convention here for a reason. They are due to hold it in Pittsburgh again in 2011.
Philadelphia has experienced an epidemic of gun killings: 331 people were shot to death last year, 321 with handguns.
As Archie Bunker somewhat famously said to Gloria, "Would it make you feel better little girl if they jumped out of buildings?"

Obama told a gathering of rural voters that his wife worries about urban handgun violence but realized while driving in Iowa that she might want a gun for protection if she lived in a rural area.So the crime rate in the urban Democrat controlled areas is astronomical, but she thinks she might want a gun in the rural low crime areas controlled by the Republicans?

“In New Hampshire last November, Obama told a gathering of rural voters that his wife worries about urban handgun violence but realized while driving in Iowa that she might want a gun for protection if she lived in a rural area.”
Hmmm. I’d say that the risk of getting shot was greater in any big inner city governed by Democrats than it is in rural Iowa but that just might be because in rural Iowa they respect the right to keep and bear arms and practice it and everyone knows it.

Over the holiday, my wife, daughter, grandson and I went into Pittsburgh.
Before we left the car, my grandson said. "You're going to strap it on, aren't you gramps"?
I said, It's like my American Express card, I don't leave home without it".
I would never leave my family unprotected by leaving my gun in the vehicle while we were walking the streets in Pittsburgh.
Didn't need it and hope I never do, but it's not that heavy.

I totally agree with you. People often lump Pittsburgh in with Philly but it certainly is different in Pittsburgh in regards to gun control. All of the crying about gun control comes out of Philly. In Pittsburgh there is not the high gun crime and the politicians there have no desire to put in new gun restrictions.
I have my conceal carry and though I don’t expect any sniper fire like Hillary it’s there just in case.
I take it by your moniker you were in the Navy. Fellow naval personnel tipping my cap to you...

He argued that their support for tougher gun regulation may not affect them in the Pennsylvania primary, but it could push the Keystone State into the Republican column in the general election.
LOL! Yeah right.
That really stopped them from voting for Clinton twice, Al Gore once, and John F ing Kerry in the general elections.
Pennsylvania has not voted for a Republican since 1988. - That is 20 years my Freeper friends, and to me, that means take her out of swing state status and break out the cobalt blue crayons to color it blue.

My ancedotal evidence indicates that gun ownership is a lot higher per household here than 42%.It's probably a variation of the so-called Bradley effect, given that polling predicted Mayor Bradley was supposed to win the Governor's race in CA in the early 1980s. He lost. It was attributed to the polls being given dishonest answers because Bradley was black.
As it happened, IIRC, a handgun ban was on the ballot in CA on that Election Day. The NRA did a retail gun store voter registration effort in the months prior to the vote. They registered 300,000 new voters. Bradley lost by 93,000 votes.
ElkGroveDan wrote the gist of the story to me in a comment after the polls were wrong in NH when Hillary won. I find it somewhat ironic that the VPC verified it!

So typical of the People’s Republic of Follydelphia.
They should move Independence Hall from that cesspool of freedom-hating socialism.

You’re safe in most of Da ‘Burgh.
Exceptions:
The Hill
Homewood
Point Breeze
Duquesne
Clairton.
Just stay out of those areas.

When things blow up because the police have to enforce a permit that the Democrats got, dont blame us for that.
We live in interesting times, IMHO.
