Are you an authentic white person? For the answer to that, we need to go to the current authentic black community. They are the ones who define who is and who is not an authentic member of their race. Be they black or white. (Since Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc., have not yet amassed political clout, they're excluded from being categorised by their skin color.)
The reigning Black elite have decided that authentic 'typical white people' are inherently racist. As Obama so blithely stated, this prejudice is inbred and rears its ugly head every time a white encounters a black. For those whites who believe reparations to date, in the form of trillions of dollars, affirmative action, special dispensations and a color-coded justice system, have adequately addressed the shame of their ancestors' sin of slavery, well, it hasn't. We are informed that racial prejudice is still rampant in American society. If you don't see it, its because it has taken the more insidious form of 'institutional racism.'
While largely true in flyover country, that doesn’t apply in many of the biggest media markets that would dominate news in any such event. NY, Boston, DC, Chicago, LA, none have CCW.
Paternal Great-Great Grandfather arrived in U.S. in 1848 from Prussia. Volunteered (not drafted!) and fought four years in the 5th Wisconsin Infantry in some of the Civil War’s bloodiest battles to liberate Jeremiah Wright’s ancestors. Left a wife and five children at home in Watertown WI to do so. They got by on the generosity of the community who supported families with breadwinners in the service.
Maternal grandfather came through Ellis Island in 1906 from Macedonia, worked out west building railroads. Told us they had to have a cavalry escort as there were still renegade aborigines out on the plains even at that late date. Sent back to the old country for my grandmother. They only spoke Macedonian in the house.
So, based on my grandparents, I am German/German-Polish/Macedonian/Macedonian-Turkish.
In other words, a typical white American guy.
If black Americans want reparations for slavery, I’m still waiting for my reparations from them for the sacrifice my great-great grandfather made to end that evil institution.
Better yet, let’s just call it even.
“Hispanic is not a race , it’s a culture.”
“Tell the U.S. government”
— Hispanic or Latino. A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race. The term, “Spanish origin,” can be used in addition to “Hispanic or Latino.”

LBJ instituted reparations, as far as I'm concerned. Want more? How about 40 acres and a mule (in Alaska) as promised?
If America isn't good enough, sell your citizenship to someone who wants it and deserves it. You can buy 40 acres and a mule in just about any country on earth with the proceeds.I think anyone who ostentatiously burns an American flag should have an automatic court date to deny that the above is not what they want. And if in fact they do not want their citizenship sold to a foreigner, their statement would have to be publicized and televised as prominently as the original demonstration was.
Sure and in “check this box” parts of SS applications and other government-related or mandated questionnaires, there is “race/ethnicity”: white, black, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Native American, etc. Virtually none of these is really a definable category that uses the same characteristics as the others. So “white” includes a multiplicity of nationalities (many of which were described as distinct races a hundred years ago) and languages. Hispanic can refer to lots of “races” but to be believable, you’d better have a last name that is obviously “Hispanic” (If your last name is Hachett, you’re black, you grew up speaking English, and you’re from the Samana region of the Dominican Republic, good luck in being considered Hispanic, even though your ancestors have been there for over a hundred years). Pacific Islander sounds geographical but if you were merely born there to white parents who were missionaries, you really wouldn’t be a Pacific Islander in the sense that the government is thinking. The category “black” makes no distinction between American blacks, Latin American blacks, and African blacks. The term African-American ignores everyone of African origin who is not black. It’s just a mish-mash of terms that are used solely for political convenience and advantage.
I thought Jerusalem.
Thank You Sir !!
Stay safe !!
SAR Gunner......you run with the PJ’s ?
Fortunately, Philly does, and the suburbs are heavily armed
Same with ATL.
Who says or where stands that some ancestors are from “the old country”? There´s a region of Hamburg called “das alte Land” (literally translated: the old country/land). Is that a possible location? But then again, there may be several regions worldwide called like that.
Squantos,
“SAR Gunner......you run with the PJs ?”
Yes sir, 40+ years ago. I was in the CCT pipeline in ‘67 but knew I wouldn’t make the cut due to negative buoyancy issues. At the time the AF was putting together air crews for the HH-3/HH-53. The crew attrition rate was higher than expected and slots were opening so I made the jump. Assigned initially to an SOS squadron working with the SOG, a re-org found me assigned to the 37th and eventually the 40th ARRS. DaNang, NKP and some non-existent(LOL) forward locations in Laos became home. I had three tours in SEA, but the one with the ARRS was the most rewarding and challenging. I was proud to be part of a 100+ save crew. Never had a complaint from one of them. The PJs of course were center ring and deserve all of the accolades they receive and MUCH more. I saw many selfless acts performed by those guys. My job was simply to give them the room they needed to operate. As they say, “Happiness is a belt-fed weapon” and I still have a soft sport for the GAU-2. The Sandy’s, MIGCAP and King all helped make it happen.
The downside of course was we could not bring them all back home. It was extremely depressing when the mission abort call was made. We all would have risked the 40mm instead of having to do remains recovery. Something I never did adjust to.
Through your posts I know your Bro is a PJ. Special breed. Good man. You’ve also gotten your hands dirty more than once. Thanks for your service and thanks for asking.
You mean like having Washington State in the Eastern NCAA playoffs? Goes to prove that, in order to really break the rules, somebody has to make some first.
“I went to engineering graduate school with a couple genuine black guys. I knew they were genuine because they were directly from Africa.”
I listened to a black priest from Nigeria discuss his confusion over the “black” holidy called Kwanzaa.
He thought it was hilarious it was being sold as an African thing - he never heard of it until he came over here.
Damn proud to know anyone that was part of a 100 plus saves crew or a 1 save crew. IMHO the most dangerous job in the military. Deep respect for folks on those crews. You need to hit a reunion, tour a unit and see the new M-134 Dillon reworks on the GAU2B’s......awesome mods on that rig that dillon did when he bought the rights from General Electric.
You Stay Safe !
I tend to think the only way to address race in America is to compare life of “everyday people” in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and realize that all 3 have been slaves and slave masters. If one follows Al and Jesse, they live like Africans in America. If one follows Islam, they live like Middle Easterners in America. If one follows Europeans, they live like Europeans in America. Everyone is free to choose but no one should complain. Everyone else can live like Americans in America!
Ironically the opposite is true in Europe. Most American blacks in Europe have "found the promise land" and assimilate very quickly while many Africans come as migrant workers and don't assimilate. I tend to think tribal identities are more of a limiting factor than anything else among all races on the planet.
