If tomorrow all the things were gone,
Id worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
Id thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they cant take that away.
And Im proud to be an American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That Im proud to be an American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And Im proud to be and American,
where at least I know Im free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there aint no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
She did a great job tonight. After two weeks of mediocre performances, she hit a home run.
I though Simon (the Brit) was going to say the “God Bless America” song choice was a bit cheesy.
But even he agreed. It was fantastic.
She did really well.
Especially in contrast to the kid before her that sang a hippie anti-war song.
I was also impressed with Brooke’s version of Every Breath You Take and the last guy’s version of Billie Jean.
I like this girl. I was surprised that Simon liked this number.
You know, I think she’s about the worst singer out of the top 10, but God bless her little heart.
Simon was right about the choice of this song; it was brilliantly smart. Miss Cook WILL get votes (and lots of them) just for the song choice. That she sang it well is icing on the cake.
Regards,
PS: My favorite performace of the night goes to Mr. Cook’s “Billie Jean”, though. I thought it was fantastic.
i like kristy
and the judges really liked her performance and song choice tonight
yet, i like brooke white more
she is a person of faith and i get the feeling it comes through - to me - in how she treats the lyrics of many of the songs she selects - she’s always so positive and full of joy
Cook definitely hit it out of the park!
She needs a lot of help!! go vote everybody!
Bless her Heart!
She was fantastic! I’m glad that someone finally had the courage to go out on a limb and be who they are! You go girl!
Thanks for posting the words to one of my favorite songs!
Thanks for posting this. I was so surprised but so happy to hear Kristy sing this song. Definitely a song that could make or break her. She really did the song justice and I hope it inspired many patriotic Americans to vote for her as I did. Way to go Kristy! God Bless the USA and God Bless Kristy! :)
I think I’ll send the words to the song to that stupid Principal in MN who denied the Vets For Freedom to speak at his school as planned.
In season 2, the top ten sang that song right after we went into Iraq on the Wednesday night show. The group went on to record it as a single due to a positive response from fans.
Since Simon is one of the producers, it doesn’t surprise me at all that he has an appreciation for the song.
He was correct, strategically she hit the song choice out of the park.

Think I like his arrangement better than the original..intelligent singer.
I never voted in an American Idol before and tuned in with 10 minutes to go in the show. But for her bravery to sing a song about God and country in Hollywood and her love of the USA, I had to vote twice - once for her and once for her choice of song.
I like Kristy because she brings a little bit of country to the competition, but man she chooses terrible songs(except for that journey song and God Bless the USA).
Now Brooke White I love, she has this entirely genuine feel to her, I do agree with the judges on the musical arrangement tonight but it was still a soulful performance by her.
David Cooke is great to, I prefer his styling more than the others and he is the best performer I think they may have ever had.
I hate David Archuletta, that little brainwashed liberal bleeding heart freak’s song choices annoy the hell out of me. I think even the judges would agree with me there.
