**snip** Otherwise, the truth would have sufficed.
The fact is that Clinton and her entourage were warned in advance that Bosnia was hostile territory and that there had been sniper fire reported in the hills surrounding the tarmac at some point before the trip. As a journalist on the trip, the story I wrote began, "Venturing to the front lines of the Bosnia peacekeeping mission, Hillary Rodham Clinton greeted U.S. troops today and heard horror stories about the region's devastating civil war."
It continued: "Security was tight fighter jets accompanied her DC-17 cargo plane to Tuzla but officials said the first lady took no extraordinary risks on the trip."
In her biography, Clinton wrote about the reports of snipers in the hills and said she met with local children on the tarmac, adding that the gathering was cut short by security concerns. All plausible, and a mission to be proud of.
But during a speech last week on Iraq, Clinton stretched the truth to the breaking point. "I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia and ... there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the first lady. That's where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
Hogwash. The truth is:
There was no sniper fire.
Nobody ducked for cover.
Bad weather, not security concerns, kept her husband from making the same trip a few months earlier.
**end snip
The “truth” is Hillary’s story was a lie.
This is like the 10th thread about Hillary’s lie. And I’m NOT complaining.
B. Hussein has been hit pretty hard lately. It’s about time to focus on what a sleaze bag Hillary was and is.
I didn’t know until now that the “real” version was in her book
preach it, brother !
I am telling you all, Hillary is confused with the gunfire and running she did the night they did away with Vince Foster. First, she probably had to run him down and he was ducking the bullets. Then she had to exert herself to move the body to Ft. Marcy Park. Hillary is just confused with Bosnia and the events of the night they did away with old Vince.
who are going to believe....the piaps or sinbad????
I’ve got a few hours as a PAX on C-130s. In fact, we DID corkscrew down at Hue/Phu Bai on a flight from Tachikawa AB, Japan. We were not under heavy sniper fire. Now a C-17 is a different story. Can they “corkscrew?” I would’ve thought that a Globemaster III goes too fast to pull off such a maneuver. Can they?
and she also said that BC couldn’t go becuase of sercurity concerns....yet the article says he cancelled because of bad weather earlier
looks like she mispoke while mispeaking
I just love the expression “I misspoke.” One can easily do that if one says “Iraq” instead of “Iran” or even “Shiite” instead of “Sunni.” You can even say “North Carolina” instead of “North Dakota” or “6 times 6 equals 39.” Fine!
But, if a meek accountant tries to impress a girl in a bar by saying he is a race-car driver or an astronaut or a rock star, that is not “misspeaking.” It is lying. Or, if you prefer, bulls****ing. Hillary is clearly a b.s. artist, just like Bill is, except he is a little more clever about it.
There is a slightly off-color joke I love to tell involving “misspeaking.”
A quiet guy walks into his office and he is even quieter and more somber than usual.
“What’s wrong?” a co-worker asks. “You look very down.”
“I had a little incident at the train station. I went there to buy two tickets to Pittsburgh, but the lady behind the counter was so buxom that I got all tongue-tied and I accidentally asked for ‘two pickets to Tittsburgh.’ I got very embarrassed and the woman seemed to blush a little as well. I feel horrible.”
“You feel horrible over that? You’re nuts. You made a little mistake. You misspoke. Big deal. Why, just this morning, I misspoke when I was talking to my wife. I tried to say, ‘Darling, would you please pass the cornflakes?’ but, somehow, I misspoke and I accidentally said, ‘You stupid b*tch! You ruined my life.’”
If there was going to be sniper fire...why wasn’t the First Lady or anybody in her entourage, wearing a flak jacket ?
She might also be confused as she remembered the assault on that house in Waco or maybe the capture of that dangerous criminal Elián González.
That makes as much sense as any other explanation I’ve heard.

"I remember landing under sniper fire," Clinton recounted. "There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
DC-17 More military ignorance from the AP.
She did claim to be wearing flak jackets.
C’mon! Can’t any of you tell that Hillary is frisking this Bosnian girl for that Dragonov sniper rifle she snuck through the rope line???
That little Bosnian girl is clearly smarter than Chelsea. The little girl knows how to comb and brush her hair, a skill Chelsea still hadn’t mastered in her late teens. (Probably still hasn’t. Now she probably has a hairdresser in her entourage.)
I think she claimed they sat on ‘em in the air plane.
in any case, if you watch the video of her debarking the plane etc.....nary a one has on a vest.
