I don't consider any murderer to be devout to anything other than themselves. If he was devout he would have been an upstanding citizen trying to get into Heaven.

The guy who made that model of List and aged him 18 years is the greatest genius who ever lived. It looked exactly like him, down to every detail.

The creepy thing was, it also looked exactly like my father, but it turned out not to be him, which was a relief.

I find the comments on this article very interesting. No one is blaming the Lutheran Church! If it was a Catholic that did this horrific deed, there would be numerous hate-filled remarks about the Catholic Church (the Church founded by Jesus Christ, Himself).

For the most part posters have their evaluation of John List correct. That is based on my reading of an unpublished autobiography by John List which he could not get published. In that book List still tried to justify the murders and had no remorse of any kind. He professed to believe that he saved his family from hell by killing them before they fell from grace and that the entire family would be reunited in heaven as he was sure he had Christ’s forgiveness. He truely was a strange dangerous man who should have been in prison much sooner.
