PING
So Saddam supported groups that supported Al-Quaeda. That's why he kicked the weapons' inspectors out.
What a great article! I have posted the kink at several other boards arguing over the war in Iraq.

Perfectly stated. The entire article sheds lots of light where the Left media wishes remains hidden.

MAY 1999 : (UDAY HUSSEIN ORDERS PREPARATIONS FOR "SPECIAL OPERATIONS, ASSASSINATIONS, AND BOMBINGS " AGAINST LONDON, IRAN AND KURDISTAN IN NORTHERN IRAQ ------ See "BLESSED JULY") A new and highly illuminating article in Foreign Affairs draws on hundreds of Iraqi documents to provide a look at the Iraq war from the Iraqi perspective. The picture that emerges is that of an Iraqi regime built on a foundation of paranoia and lies and eager to attack its perceived enemies, internal and external. This paragraph is notable:
The Saddam Fedayeen also took part in the regime's domestic terrorism operations and planned for attacks throughout Europe and the Middle East. In a document dated May 1999, Saddam's older son, Uday, ordered preparations for "special operations, assassinations, and bombings, for the centers and traitor symbols in London, Iran and the self-ruled areas [Kurdistan]." Preparations for "Blessed July," a regime-directed wave of "martyrdom" operations against targets in the West, were well under way at the time of the coalition invasion [in March 2003].Think about that last sentence.------ "Saddam's Philippines Terror Connection(Yes, Saddam financially supported terrorists)," Weekly Standard ^ | 03/18/2006 | Stephen F. Hayes
Trivia : MAY 1999 is also the month in which al Qaeda allocated funding for their bio/chem warfare program-- the "curdled milk plot" [see anthrax] ; it is also the month in which the founder of the American Iraqi Foundation - an Iraqi-American businessman, his wife and his son are murdered in McClean, VA.
Good article but it does not mention that Saddam was a U.S. Ally during the days of Jimmy Carter.

From time to time, Ill ping on noteworthy articles about politics, foreign and military affairs. FReepmail me if you want on or off my list.
What do you have that supports that? Iran was the U.S. ally in the region until Jimmy Carter dumped the Shah.
From Saddam's Wiki entry.
While Wikipedia does not out right say it, the Carter Administration warmed to Saddam in 1978.
I don't trust Wikipedia when it involves politics.
Are you saying that the U.S. never had a friendly relationship with Saddam?
Great article by Deroy Murdock. Thanks for posting.
