The National Black Republican Association is promoting its nationwide educational campaign by erecting a billboard announcing “Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican.” ........The billboard is located at a busy intersection … and it is attracting a lot of attention,” said NBRA Chairman Frances Rice in a statement. “We welcome the opportunity to explain why Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican....Of interest is the fact that Orangeburg is the hometown of black Democrat Jim Clyburn who is the majority whip for the U.S. House of Representatives. We hope he appreciates our informing his black constituents about their civil rights history.”

Well...it's TRUE, and ANYONE who hasn't been totally indoctrinated in the (conservatives are EEEVEEEEL, white-sheet-wearing, right-wing-Christian-extremist-with-an-unexplainable-tendency-toward-cross-burning, Bambi-killing, tree-murdering, narrow-minded, anal retentive...whatever;I ran out of expletives) new, progressive schools of thought and has ANY sort of interest in History, WHATSOEVER, knows that.

Normally, I WOULD say something like "say it loud, say it proud....but in this case, I can tell you from experience that you can turn the volume to 112 decibels and the "progressive" thinker STILL won't be able to hear you over the noise of the voices in their heads.

But well...keep trying. Horton heard that Who...SOMEONE'S got to hear you. Eventually. And turning one person to the path of reason is better than turning none. Probably naive, but the only reason I personally keep trying.

Idiot libs like to talk about the civil rights act of ‘64, what they dont tell you is that these same dims killed the civil rights act of ‘57 that Republicans tried to get thru. Sen jfk even voted against it. If not for the fact that they knew that Republicans were GONNA do one, the dims wouldnt have either. In ‘57 only 20% of blacks were registered to vote, night riding dim klansmen discouraged them from it.

MLK was more into socialism than individual rights. His “Dream” is bogus. You can not be for treating people according to their character, and by their race at the same time, it is something that is mutually exclusive. MLK was for treating people differently based upon race, thus his dream was just empty rhetoric. Like his marriage vows were.

"He was a leftist...but he and everyone else knew that the only party blacks could join was the GOP."

You would be wrong. Read the links in post #12. This was debunked.

He and his father supported JFK in 1960 (the father switched from Nixon and never looked back, and he was a bigtime supporter of Carter, who ran a racist campaign for Governor in 1970).

Most historical accounts show him as nonpartisan and not endorsing politicians from either side......however, there are some historical facts that cannot be denied....like the Republican party was heavily influenced by abolitionists, The KKK was started by a bunch of demo’crack’s...also, during the segregation era the democratic party was the establishment in the South and they supported all of the anti-civil rights legislation, Jim Crow laws, etc......

Wrong.

Sorry but it is true. MLK was for Affirmative Action as it was called in his day. You can not be for AA and beilve in his so-called dream. Too bad he did not practice what he preached.

“Group: Martin Luther King Was a Republican”

Who cares, as if that’s anything to be proud of anymore.

My official reply = Individual: whites spend too much time and money writhing over race, to the detriment of all.

Steve Klein, a senior researcher with the Atlanta-based King Center, said Thursday that King never endorsed candidates from either party.....

However, what I find most interesting is the vitriol that this has caused in people...to even entertain the idea that the demo’crack’ party is not the party of civil rights causes such a stir in the bowels of libs....b/c they have been duped....been duped by the so called “party of change’....

"You can not be for treating people according to their character, and by their race at the same time, it is something that is mutually exclusive"

MLK, God rest his soul, was talking about treating people according to their character AND their race, he was talking about treating people ACCORDING to their character REGARDLESS of race. Entirely different thing.

If you would like an example of Dr Kin's vision in action, you need only look at the Bush administration.

ARGH, MLK was NOT talking about treating people according to their character AND race, but about treating people ACCORDING to character REGARDLESS of race. Damn. What a difference one little three letter word makes.

But isn’t that because RFK used the power of his office to bug MLK’s home? I heard that when he and JFK threatened to deliver the catalog of his infidelities to the Boston Globe, MLK delivered the black vote to them. Is that not how it happened?

Yes, this is what his bogus dream thing was about. Bogus? Hell yes it was. He was actually for treating people differently according to their race, as Affirmative Action does.
