Leon Panetta should have been governor. But at least his talent will be used trying to straighten out Sacramento.

Panetta and a new team of Capitol outsiders and periphery players have been staked with nearly $16 million by five foundations that are frustrated with the pathetic performance of Sacramento politicians.

You know that's a damn good point. For just a half million they could have guaranteed Tom McClintock in the Controller's office (twice - 94 and 02) holding the purse strings. That alone would have brought to a screeching halt most of the fiscal idiocy of the past decade.

Arnold's referendums were garbage--and he turned left far before he launched that totally inept campaign.

Perhaps you missed the multi-million acre landgrabs Arnold pushed, the RFK jr. environmental platform he set out, or the massive borrowing and increased spending he promoted --all long before any referendums (which many conservatives voted against, anyway).
